Hello, I was wondering what some good profession choices are for a pve/raiding rogue?
Currently thinking about Enchanting / JC, but i'm really unsure about what to pick. ???
Suggestions wanted!![]()
Engineering / JC .. my GM(top dps) opens up with 9k dps on a fight with his Gloves
JC/Blacksmithing is the best for most classes I believe, since it gives you a great deal of flexibility. There are some other options that are just as good, (i.e. enchanting instead of blacksmithing, because you'd probably socket AP anyway) however depending on what you are, at BiS gear your gemming will change from AP to either AGI or ArP. Thats why blacksmithing is so good, because it gives you the most options and doesn't lock you in to either AP (enchanting, alchemy) or crit (skinning) etc
Skinning gives 32 crit rating passive bonus.Originally Posted by Ithus
Leatherworking gives 114 AP bracer enchant (+64 over standard 50 AP enchant).
Jewelcrafting lets you use prismatic gems (helps you with socket bonuses / meta requirements, plus extra stats).
Our top dps rogue also uses engineering + jewelcrafting. He uses his engineering tricks (hand rockets, maybe other things?) as part of his normal rotation.
JC/BS
BS because it gives the biggest dps increase
JC because it gives the second biggest dps increase
And then they're both very good for making money (Belt Buckles)
Ok im new to hotkeying so im most likely doing something wrong.
I can hotkey alt to anything but the function keys. I can do alt+f1, f2, f3 but when i get to f4 it crashes my game EVERY TIME! Its annoying because I have to reset all my hotkeys cuz a game crash doesnt save them. Please fix soon!
grabbed from the EJ forums:
Professions
Only the best rogue professions are listed below. All other professions granting
less than 64 EP are not listed due to inferior DPS benefits.
Profession EP
Jewelcrafting 110
Blacksmithing 64
Leatherworking 64
Enchanting 64
Inscription 64
Alchemy 64
JC is so high due to higher stat bonuses PLUS 3 gems being prismatic to turn on your META bonus and then forget about ever gemming anything other than red.
After that, basically any will do.
Most of the above posts are pretty accurate, but I wanted to elucidate why JC/BS is now the best combination compared to JC/LW,Enchanting, etc.
As it has been stated, JC is a must, it is over budgeted, allows you 3 prismatics (won't need blues to fulfill the meta gem requirement) pretty much guaranteeing you get all socket bonuses. Before patch 3.1, BS, LW, Inscription, Alchemy, and Enchanting all provided similar profession bonuses, namely the ability to add up to 64 AP to your stats, however, in 3.1 with the changes to ArP (which I am not qualified to explain) and the t8 set bonus, EP values (values that give an estimate of how much a stat is worth in AP, i.e. 1EP = 1AP) of ArP and Agi started going over 2EP. Since each of the listed professions except BS gives you straight 64 AP bonus (so 64 EP), BS won out because of the ability to gem Agi or ArP in the 2 sockets you get. Thus, while it really isn't a huge upgrade over the other professions, BS can give you an EP of roughly 66EP at a minimum and with the weird ArP cap (which is changing in 3.1.2 :-( ) even up to 77 EP depending on tricket procs and current gear. So, while JC/BS is the best combination, keep in mind that the difference between BS and LW, Enchanting, Inscription is still rather small (under 1% dps for sure) and unless you're swimming in gold and absolutely out to get the highest theoretical dps you can get, the change likely isn't worth your time. However, that decision is ultimately up to you! One caveat: Keep in mind that BS is best for current itemization, gear setups, and profession bonuses, all of which are subject to change come future patches.
As has been already stated, jewelcrafting is by far your best option for dps. It gives you the ability to stuff any stat in a socket and still meet your meta in addition to possibly picking up socket bonuses. That is why JC is a cut above other dps professions.
The rest are roughly equal, they all provide the standard 64 AP bonus. The only possibly exception is blacksmithing if stat weights put 32 agi or something else as greater then 64 AP (I'm not familiar with recent rogue stat weights).
JC/Blacksmithing = best professions for DPS output
(This signature was removed for violation of the Avatar & Signature Guidelines)
Blacksmithing is only better for some melee dps since it allows them to socket Agility/Strength gems, which multiplies with Blessing of Kings, opposite to the benefits from Enchanting or Inscription.
But Blacksmithing also cost you about 3000 gold more than any of the other professions to level. So sure, pay 3000g extra for TWO extra agility. I hope you think that's worth it, lol.
I dunno I like being skinning/enchanting.
Not selling out to JC make me feel warm and fuzzy.
64 AP and close to 1% extra crit is coo ( I dunno the exact %age of the crit rating buff)
Jewelcrafting : http://rrvs.blogspot.com/2009/04/how...ing-worth.html
+ pretty much anything else.
Definitely NOT skinning however.
Leatherworking / Enchanting / Blacksmithing are all good choices.
Blacksmithing is about 0.4 AEP better than the other 2 though, once you have 4xT8
So JC + BS is your best bet.
if u also want to make $$$ go for alchemist(saves $$) + jc(brings $$) and go for a mining&herb-alt (druid is the best choice 'cause of flyform)

Enhancer are like ventilators. You can easily turn them off (CC), but you should never put your head right into them while they are keep running.
Leveling BS costs nothing if you have an enchanting alt. I did this a few months ago, buy ore/bars from AH -> forge -> disenchant -> enchants on vellums -> AH -> profit.Originally Posted by Nezoia
Also works very nicely after lvl 450, you just need to plan it to get the more profitable items.
And as stated before : JC + BS is currently the best combo for almost any class
