Feel free to ignore this as it's what you'd call common sense...but it would appear not many people have that.
Alrighty, there was a huge argument last night in a pug and people are still not getting this so here's an explanation.
On Thaddius, if you go to the wrong side with the wrong charge, you won't magically wipe the raid(per se). When you cross over and, for fun let's say, negative on the positive side, you deal 3.5k damage to everyone within 10 yards with a positive charge every second. THEN! AT THE SAME TIME! They all hit you for 3.5k damage a second. Let's see what this means!
For number's sake, let's say 9 people with positive, 1 with negative:
Negativepally will hit everyone for 3.5k damage a second.
Positiveraid will hit Negativepally for 3.5k damage a second which equals 31,500 damage a second.
Unless Negativepally bubbles, he's gonna eat shit way faster than he could possibly wipe out the Positive side.
Lesson? If you screw up, you die, you don't kill the whole side. YOU DO, however, take away 10% of the raid's damage due to you not being there. That's where you get into "you wiped the raid" territory.
Also note, trinkets and some effects can turn you red. Remind people that if you were on the wrong side, you'd be dead, and that just because the rings are red and you're on the blue side, doesn't mean you're on the wrong side.
Now with that explained, here's what keeps coming up that NOBODY UNDERSTANDS.
Recount has a handy dandy Friendly Fire report. What do you see when you look? How much you damaged friendly characters. What are you going to see on top? A ret paladin. OMG THAT MEANS HE SHOCKED THE ENTIRE RAID THE WHOLE TIME, HE FAILS SO HARD RIGHT? Nope. If you geniuses would look at the detailed report of Friendly Fire, you'll see it's Judgement of Blood and Seal of Blood constituting the FF damage. It doesn't mean he's terrible and shocking the raid, calm down.
NEXT misconception: If you have any Friendly Fire that says Negative and Positive, you shocked the raid and failed. Again, not how the report works and not how the encounter works. If someone else screws up, you're going to shock them. That means you're going to have Friendly Fire even if you've done absolutely nothing wrong.
Feel free to troll or do whatever you want, but if I reform one close minded person that thinks the ret pally done wiped the raid coz they were first on friendly fire list, I'll have done something.
