    Re: WoW needs more races

    Skeletons?

Yes, because we do need a undead, bony race...

    Liches?

Show me a female lich, a city built by liches and a society with liches that does, indeed, have free will and I'll buy it.

    Hobbits?

As with the skeletons, we really could use a short, human-like race.

    Hobgoblins?

I think I've heard of something similar... gobble... goblins? Nah, can't be it...

    Ogres?

    That's just plain stupid.

    Re: WoW needs more races

Yeah... if you discount the fact that it's been a mythological creature for far longer than that.

I know I've heard about Helions before, too, just can't remember the context right now.

Anyway, big no to those ideas. They have no real place in the WoW universe.

    First quote: No.

    Answer to both:

Selkie is also a european based mythological shapeshifters who can shed the form of seals and become humans. I both they are based in Ireland and they are often portray as unwilling sprouses for fishermans and widows. I believe their oriental counter parts are mostly birds.

Helion was just something I decide to put in at random, it's either that or Agnian, based off of Agni, the Hindu fire god.

As promised I did say I am going to add more ideas:

If wow needs more race, here's actually what I was thinking:

    Expansion -- Maelstrom

    Alliance: Selkie
Racial: Polearm Specialization (plus chance to crit with polearms), Liquid Slip (Reduce the duration of all movement impairing effect by half for 10 seconds, 3 minute CD), Rune Specialization (+5 to Inscription), Underwater Breathing (does not have to swim up to breath)
Class: Hunter, Mage, Druid, Warlock, Shaman
Starting Area: A small outpost link to a small underwater city, Neria, west of Stormwind and near the edge of the Maelstrom. In order to leave the city, players must finish a quest on a leviadrake fighting off the nagas to seek for alliance help.
Description: Once thought to be creatures of legend who dwell in the sea and have very few or little contact with land races. But over the course of centuries, the Selkie has been waging a losing war against the Nagas who invaded their world after the sundering. Now they seek the help of the Night Elves and Humans to protect what is left of their world. The Selkie looks human on the outside, but their greyish, leathery skin and large black pupiless eyes often tells a different stories, they are a hunter-gatherer race whose caster's specializes in frost, lightning, and shadow magic. Once joining the alliance, they have begin to share their magic with its new allies as many Selkie mages learn of felmagic and a wider school of spells. The city of Neria can be reach with a water mount and during the ride, a fun event where the player will fend the mount against Nagas Raiders patrolling the area. Upon dying (no durability lost), players will be left alone by the Nagas Raider and a Selkie Druid will resurrect you into the city. Arriving at Neria safely after killing the waves of Naga result in a quest turn in at the Neria 'swim' path where players gain 100 reputation with Selkies

    Horde: Agnian
Racial: Fiery Body (+10 to fire resistance), Fist Specialization (Increase chance of critical strike with fist weapons), Fire of the Devoted (+ 1 to bonus healing, base on level), Radiance (party and raid members within 40 yards gain an increase health regeneration by 1 per level while out of combat)
Class: Warrior, Priest, Paladin, Shaman, Druid
Starting Area: An ravine located Ragefire Chasm below that opened up due to Burning Legion members in the instance. Players will discover a Burning Legion's plan to dig a tunnel that leds to the sea for the Naga to sneak into Ogrimmar. Then the player will work with a Horde scout that was captured by Burning Legion members to destroy the tunnel and warns Thrall of impending danger from within the Maelstrom, placing the Helion on the side of the Hordes.
Description: Deep within the lava in the middle of Azeroth, a race who once roam the planet before the arrival of the Titans during the planet more fiery time awakens due to an earthquake cause by the Burning Legion members who escape the slaughter in Ragefire Chasm, they are a race with intense color skin, ranging from glowing yellow to purpish-blue, and glowing eyes, range from yellow to silver in color, who once worships the Elemental Lords in fear of being destroy by the four Elemental Lords' bid for domination. When the Titans took over, the Titans freed the Hellion and as a token of gratitude, the Hellion now treat the Titans as their new gods. Born from fire, these fiery humanoid studies magic base on light and discover its healing and defensive properties while studying the forging of steels under the Titans. After the Titan's left, the Helion were left to built their underground world and watches many races, the Aqir, the Nerubian, even the Forgotten Ones travel around their world. Many times they come close to discovering the Helion but those who do are never heard from again. Those who explorer's the sub-terrain world often call the dissappearance caused by Helion 'Spirited Away.' However, recent threat and messages from the Titans, discovered in a Stasis Chambers where ancient Helion were stored changed all this when Burning Legion members started to dig a tunnel to the sea and break the seal of the Stasis Chamber. The Helion leader, with the assistance of the ancient Hellions, decide to ask for the nearest sentient being for help and warn them against the impending threat from the Burning Legions.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
