Question about Avenger's Shield

Question for the Prot Paladins out there:
Do I need a shield equipped to use Avenger's Shield? I can't remember and I don't get paid until Friday or I would check. Please don't reply without checking first, and if your interested, I am goofing off with the talent calculator, trying to make a viable 2H Prot build, mainly because I am incredibly bored and like playing odd specs.

*EDIT* I find it amusing that I can copy characters to the PTR even though it says that I can't. Don't mind the scrawling below. Too lazy to open notepad for theorycrafting.

Crit Chance (unbuffed by gear or buffs): ~18%
Damage Reduction: 6 (RF) + 3 (BoS) + 3 (DP glyph) = 12% damage reduction + 6% spell reduction

Nor does Shor and (obviously) holy shield. So in a nutshell, your build does nothing.

Hmm, being up too late (11pm?) isnt that exadurating? Hmm, anyways, not your fault that the talent calculator ur using aint showing the complete tooltip, gogo wowhead.com Gotta love it.
