    New proff's best combo?

    Hi.

I've rerolled EU region and (well tbh my friend gave me his unproffesioned toon), was wondering wat two professions would be the best in the upcoming patch.

I'm looking at 75% gold making and 25% stat buffs.

    Here are my current thoughts.

JC nearly definitely, it's superior in every way, well a little less so after the nerfs to jc gems.

Alch possibly for the new buffs and transmutes (but I hear the flask of the north sucks)

Mining, could be pretty cool to make a quick 1k gold picking up titanium then prospecting.

JC is nice because it has the most flexibilty (next to Blacksmithing) for stat bonuses with its profession buff.  In addition it has a lot of gold making potential but that is very dependent on your server economy.  If paired with a disenchanter, you can use JC to manufacture enchanting mats too, in addition to selling gems.

Inscription and Alchemy are two professions that provide very powerful gold-making capabilities. Inscription from selling a wide variety of glyphs (if your server still has decent prices for those) and using snowfall ink to make cards.  Alchemy is similarly server dependent on how much money you can make.

BS, Engineering, LW, and Tailoring I'd stay away from due to their lack of goldmaking potential comapred to alternatives.

Herbalism, and Mining will always be profitable, but their "stat bonuses" aren't great, and you need to farm to make money.  This limits your goldmaking potential if you have limited play time.

Enchanting is decent for goldmaking.  You can make very little to a ridiculous boat load depending on how you use it.  Great when paired with Blacksmithing or JC.  A pain to level, unless paired with Inscription so you can sell your wasted enchants.

Personally, I'm an inscription/enchanter but neither were chosen for goldmaking or stats.  However, I make 1-1.5k gold a day from Inscription, selling glyphs, and another 500g a week from Enchanting, but I don't push the goldmaking capabilites of enchanting as much as I could.

    JC/BS unless you're a caster, then it's Tailoring/JC.

The OP indicated that he was looking primarily at making gold from the professions, with stats as a secondary concern. BS/JC and Tailor/JC combos aren't going to fill the primary objective well.

I'd suggest mining if you're into FoTM professions, as Titanium is and will be profitable in the immediate future. Pairing that with JC would help out your gold and stat situation. If you're selecting for the long term, I'd recommend Inscription and Herbing unless you have an alt that can get you the mats.

Yes for Stats, but if gold making i would probably pick up JC/Mining or JC/Herb.

JC/Mining probably with more cohesion, especially with the prospecting of titanium.

JC + mining if you like to spend most of your time outside of the cities farming, or JC + enchanting if you don't mind being sat in the AH for long periods of time.

Either of those two choices will make you stacks of cash (especially JC + enchanting which feels like a licence to print money at the moment on my server )

    Clearly cooking and fishing.

Do not take a crafting profession (including JC) until you've bought your mount, have a wealth of around 5-10k and have access to high end raiding recipes. Until then two gathering professions are the fastest way to increase your wealth.

Too bad you can only have two, otherwise I'd take First Aid as well.

My warlock is a 450 Tailor and a 425 Jewelcrafter. Tailoring is "okay" 3.2 the embroiders are getting a buff but thats not a good reason to be a tailor. I struggled to get to 450 due to the cloth cooldowns and the price of ebonweave. Tailoring can make you money if you can get mats for VERY cheap (Ebonweave on my server goes for 100g for 1piece) and you have access to make the Glacial Bag (I think hodir exalted gets you the pattern) its an easy (at least on my server) 800gold. But to do that you have pretty damn lucky to have a friend to help you out or do the old school grindfest. Jewelcrafting on the other hand. Once I got my 3 runed dragon eyes for myself (32 SP gems mmmmm) I bought Dragon's Eyes and sold them on AH for 100g a piece (cheap on my server). Lately I been saving my tokens for new cuts.

I also have a warrior with Herbalism and Blacksmithing (weird combo i know). My herbalism is still really low since I just picked it up but the heal it gives you is eh. kinda garbage in my mind but once you hit Northrend Herbs like Lichbloom and Adders Tongue you can profit fairly well. I have a friend that does nothing but herb for flasks and to sell and he made 11k in a week from just herbs. As a blacksmith you gain extra sockets in your bracers and gloves and OMG it's awesome. Imagine you get some bracers with a socket. Pretty good has socket toss a epic gem in there. You can be like, screw one socket I want 2. some saronite and eternals later you now have a prismatic socket in you r bracers. Might as well put another epic in there. Not to mention you can make the Eternal Belt Buckles for like 20g and sell them for 70-80g.

From the quote above mentions. There are much better profs to make gold from:
*Inscription - shoulder buff (avoid SoH dailies)(buff) Darkmoon card (gold) Glyphs (gold)

*Mining - Toughness (buff) titansteel (gold)

*alchemy - 2hr duration (buff) flasks and transmutes (gold)

*leatherworking - Crit (buff) leg armor (gold)

*Engineering - u... can make helicopter and hog? =D

OMG! HAHAHA.. This guy just brightened up my day. Thank you sooo much. I'm really hope this was not for real.

He's probably reading this post saying to himself "you can have first aid with your primaries, BLASPHEMY!" *must run Scarlet Monastery 80 times to get silk cloth*

As for the whole 2 profs go I just recently made a DK got to 64 and still debating what profs to get for him. been debating either Herb/Inscribe or Mining/JC.

i play casual, and tailoring is good money for me, almost two times a week you get like 600g in 1h from selling cloth. so its nice money for someone who does not spend much time on farming or whatever.

Yeah I use to be a casual back in BC and my profs banked pretty good. farm for hours on end and get anything you want. Nowadays, all my time is doing dailies to buy flasks/food and raiding. So most of the cloth I gain is through mob drops.

If you do not have a main that can generate a high amounts of gold, picking a combo like the above is a fast way to the poorhouse.
