Shadow Priest PvP changes suggested on PTR

    Hello again,
This time, I am suggesting something pertaining to Shadow Priests. At the moment, mana regeneration for them is horrid in PvP. With the nerfs to Divine Hymn and the DR on Blind/Fear, something must be given to Shadow Priests. Fade removing snares was a good start, but why was the healing from Dispersion removed? Also, Dispersion being a Shadow Priest's only REAL form of mana regen is unfair. Teams that face a Shadow Priest focus his/her partner, and wait for the Shadow Priest to go oom. Once oom, he/she must use Dispersion. After Dispersion drops, it's time to kill that Shadow Priest. I would like to suggest the following:
1: Make Prayer of Mending a Discipline spell.
2: Improved Shadowform, in addition to what the talent does now, also allows you to regenerate mana equal to 25% of Intellect.
3: Shadow Affinity, in addition to what the talent does now, causes your Shadow spell critical strikes to cause you to enter a Clearcasting state. While under the effects of Clearcasting, your next 2 damaging spells have their mana cost reduced by 60%.
4: Shadow Power, in addition to what the talent does now, causes your Shadow DoT critical strikes to allow you to place a Power Word: Shadow Shield on a friendly target, absorbing 2,000 damage + 80% spell power. Power Word: Shadow Shield does not cause the Weakened Soul debuff. 8% base mana.

I feel that these changes are very important to Shadow Priests. If the game designers feel the same way, I'd like to continue helping design these changes more deeply. If you need to reach me, do so as you please!

    Thank you!

Endil of <Vex> - Thunderlord US

as a feral with a healer i would go for u in most situations to make u waste ur cds defensively instead of manawise then kill u meanwhile me and my partner would be ccing the other one

but yeah it's right... shadow priests need some buffs they are quite underpowered both in pve and pvp.

Perhaps the shield should stack like on the legendary mace.
With these changes you would never go oom and it would be OP in pvp and pve.
But I admit shadowpriests are underpowered.

    We're not underpowered in PvE.

well never seen a shadow priest topping the dps meters. maybe sometimes in aoe but not on single target bosses :/ but how are they not underpowered in pve in your opinion?

Re: Shadow Priest PvP changes suggested on PTR

They're not underpowered in PvE. They're right up there with all the other damage dealers. Either way, this topic is about Shadow Priest PvP.

shadow priests have no problem in pve mana wise and proply pvp wise not that big of a problem, so the clearcasting and the imp shadow thing seems kinda useless,
dot crits that puts a shield on you to absorb 2k +80% sp, say another 1500, that refreshes on crits?
    you wanna be invicible now?...
if the shield on the crits had a internal cooldown i would agree, perhaps 30seconds, otherwise its to OP considering it could stack with PW:S or if it did cause weakened soul so it would have its own cooldown in the debuff. so you dont have to spend mana buffing yourself with PW:S or wasting a GCD, then it would be usefull.

in addition, i think shadowpriests just lack the survivability, once desperation is on CD theyr to nukable.

and if you suggest to use PoM in shadowform then i will have to disagree, healing spells are healing spells, a debuff is a debuff.
disc is to prevent dmg taken, and reduce dmg taken.

We still have no damage OR survival in PVP, and are far from topping any meter in PVE.. WTB class evaluation.

Yeah, I forgot to add the CD. Obviously, a continuous shield would be overpowered. I meant more like once your DoT crits, the PW:SS button becomes activated (otherwise it is grayed out). Once activated you can use it on whoever you want. I don't know what would be a good CD for it though. Maybe 20 seconds? Something realistic, that won't always be up, but will be there when you need it.

Penance is a Discipline spell. It heals AND does damage. Smite and Holy Fire and in the Holy tree, but they're not for healing.

Edit: Holy Fire and Smite came to mind :P

I think that would be a fair CD for it.

And like others have been saying, PvE ShadowPriest is up there with any other DPS (at least in my experience playing one, its rare that i'm far from the top)

    1. No, Shadow not holy or disc, go respec.
    2. Mana is not an issue if you use Mooncloth, which is superior to Satin.
    3. As above.
    4. Shadow power is a useless talent.

    Lets go through some points.
Shadow priests has around 18% crit in Deadly PvP gear?, roughly.
Then 6% more for DOTS ALONE and 2% for MB/MF Alone.
Lets say Shadow priests have an avg of 22% to crit.
PvP gear takes away half of that, atleast, depending on how much the opponent likes resil, Melee and Mages are only ones who dont stack resil alot, just what is on their gear, but its all down to choice.
That Gives Shadow Priests a total of 10% chance to crit, crit damage reduced from resil even more.
That means that Shadow priests use 7 whole talent points to make use of 7-8% of effective crit?

    http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?prie...&version=10026

Use that Build along with Mooncloth gear.

What shadow priests need in Arena is dispel protection
Something i posted on Damage dealing forums.
Shadow affinity Becomes our dispel protection talent 16/33/50%
Also each dispelled spell has a different effect.
VE Heals 5% maximum Health, Cannot crit.
    VT Returns 50% Base mana
SWP deals 10% of its full duration damage, Cannot crit.
DP Deals 5% of its full Duration dmg and heals 2% of Health.

    *pling*

Changes that would affect PvE-play dramatically, even though it's not needed?

No, really, PoM in shadowform? The very definition of shadowform is not being able to cast any healing spells at all. 25% of int as mp5 would give shadow priests an endless supply of mana. Clearcasting, same thing there. And shield in shadowform? No, just no.

What? Perhaps in PvP, but in PvE it's GOD.

Re: Shadow Priest PvP changes suggested on PTR

We need an escape talent. Fade and Dispersions are not that.
We need better dot dispel protection, our nuke comes when we land all 3 of 'em and blow Mind Blast + SW combo.
We need a form of spammable crowd control. Disarm isn't that.

Seeing we can't rely on crits, since resilience on other players completely denies what we gain from the gear, we're doing shit dps on the targets.
Silence isn't an interrupt, and when using our main nuke we're screaming for pummel, kick, counterspel, spellock, mind freeze or shock.

The class is entirely based on taking damage rather than dealing it. If we could pop Dispersion on someone else and maintain the mana regen for us - then we're moving somewhere.

Re: Shadow Priest PvP changes suggested on PTR

Add a mortal strike effect to Shadow Wordeath (to Pain and Suffering or whatever). Won't do much difference in teams with a rogue, but would help open up some more combo possibilities and add offensive pressure for the spec with arguably the least offensive pressure of all.

After critting with a Mind Blast or Shadow Wordeath, make the next Mind Flay stun the target for its duration. It would of course be on all sorts of DR, so again it wouldn't help that much in a rogue+spriest team, but it would make us care about critting and would help a lot with 1v1 and other situations.

Make the last Mind Flay tick (the third one) crit automatically. It would make it hurt more to ignore the shadowpriest, and it combines well with the stun from the last suggestion as well as make us care for the crit damage from Shadow Power. It could also fix having to clip the damn thing in PvE for maximum dps, which feels like it just punishes lagged people like me.

Make Shadow Power grant 20% extra crit chance with MB and SW on silenced or horrored targets. You have time for a MB+SW combo during either of those if you don't have anyone else bugging you.
