epic gems a bit unfair for alchemy

let me first start off by saying i approve of the 20 hour cooldown i belive the first ptr way gave alchemists too much freedom on the amount of gems they can produce

let me also say that i'm planning to sell all my gems i make or get as soon as the patch hits for maximium profit before undercuctting starting and the price drops massivly

i'd like to know why it is going to take alchemists at least 5 days to make ONE epic red gem when the patch hits just to do the quest (quest is to do 5 epic gem transmutions) also noting red gems worth the most.

i can understand why they made the red gem the hardest to get for alchemists. when there was no cooldown it was easyier but now with the potential for it taking 5 days where the price can drop MASSIVLY in that time it gives we alchemists who want to use our professions for money a disadvantage in the sense that most of the other population will be selling for alot and by the time we can make even 1 (even with transmute spec most will be able to do max of 5 per day if they get a lucky like 2% proc chance for 5)

    in a nutshell

gonna take any alchemist at least 5 days to enjoy the profit of others for selling a red gem

solution change the quest so it doesn't take 5 days to do

or remove the cooldown but that makes alch overpowered

    opinions?

Alchemists and JC's are the only two who can "create" uncut epic gems. Therefore, you're ahead of every other profession that isn't JC.

It's possible for everyone to get epic gems from honor and badges.

So, what are you complaining about?

i'm complaining that it's gonna take me 5 days to be able to make the red gem i'd prefer to make it on the first

Go farm some heroics or honor then. You'll be able to have plenty of epic gems on 3.2 release if you stock up now.

All I'm reading is: Mimimi, I can't sell my red gems for insane exaggerated prices, so I either want them now, or the others are supposed to wait as long as I have to.

And there you have people talking about the game going too casual.

It's vastly unfair for blacksmithing to receive no direct buff (screw the blockrating, I'm a shaman), but just through JC. And I aint seeing nobody complaining about that. Besides you want to create the red gems for profit purposes (nothing wrong with that) only and not for self buffs (that's how it reads), which might have been at least a valid argument. But whining because you get gold disadvantages in "I can has everythingz wif eez"-King... Meeh, I don't know.

Alchemyst are already a big profit proff, that is why it is made to take so long.

They can get more things from less mats, potions flask stay longer active, they get few cool new things like a infinity flask.
Giving them the option to create fast epic gems just will make them dominating over JC...JC is the original gem proff so you can be glad you will be able to make it.

    1) Its only logical for JC's to have the best advantage when a patch hits that contains GEMS. GG for not realizing that.

    2) Why are you complaining? At least blizzard was nice enough to even give alchemists the ability at all.

    3) Go farm honor and bages just like everyone else who doesn't have alchemy or JC.

STILL have a problem with it? Go reroll professions...

Basically you bitching about the fact that you're a shaman and they aren't buffing BS to accommodate your specific class. I apologize on behalf of all of Blizzard that they do not buff each profession to accommodate every class and every spec. How selfish of them...

I do not think that you understood what he was trying to communicate.

Re: epic gems a bit unfair for alchemy

i get that JC should have an advantage and they do they can prospect untill they run out of mats

but is it so much to ask to be able to make 1 effing red gem the day the patch comes out? no

i support the cooldown idea as i said but 1 red gem won't break the game

5 days seems way to long to be able to make one especially considering they are the most desirable gem

    what are you talking about?

all the transmute for epic gems is the blue quality of same color + an eternal now.

    it's 1 per day.

...And all other professions except JC can't make epic gems at all. I'm bummed out that tailoring doesn't really provide with anything useful except a cheaper leg enchant. We can't all get what we want.

Re: epic gems a bit unfair for alchemy

    Folks...

If you think you're gonna get rich on epic gems... you might wanna rethink things...

The PTR when it first rolled out had epic gems being sold by the same vendor who sells blue quality gems now for 15 emblems of heroism... In the next patch of the ptr the cost was bumped to 20.

Most people who need/want epic gems are gonna be the raiders... and they MUST have boatloads of emblems (heroism, valor and/or conquest) the other two can be traded in for heroism. Heck if I have 1 emblem I must have 250? 300??... I just couldn't spend em once I got the two or three items that was worth buying... so they just started to accumulate (and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone on this).

People paying big gold for epic uncut gems? The only way you'll see that happen is if they don't realize they can buy em with emblems...

Well, tbh i cancelled my tailoring to get JC instead just because the lack of love the profession has gotten over the years, one set of cloth items that was good (tbc patterns) and thats pretty much it, and people should never talk about cd on things they make like titansteel and alchemist gems... tailoring has a 4 day cd on their cloth, sure its not shared cd between the cloth but remember vanilla? mooncloth was on 4 day cd then and had no other cloth to make.

I do wish you luck though and hope that tailoring will recieve some blessings, hopefully in the way of cutting the cd down to equal level to other profs

that will just make the prices drop so low they're basicly worth the mats u put into them.

It's definitely a good idea to plan ahead to make massive cash on game changes.

Braved Sholazar Basin with my lvl 71 warlock the day after Wrath came out, made enough for an alt's epic mount ;D

On this... JCs will definitely be making the most money, by far, so plan ahead and coordinate with a JC friend to feed him titanium ore on patch day, gg
    Dear Blizzard,

This, pretty much. If when 3.2 goes live epic gems are 20 emblems a piece, I will be able to afford about 20 of them with what I have right now, and I know people in my guild have been doing heroic circuits pretty much every day for easy emblems with the sole intention of buying these new gems.

If you think you're gonna make a killing on these gems before people start undercutting and they flood they market, think again. The market is going to be flooded from day one.

Something tells me the epic gems will be bought with Emblems of Triumph. Can anybody from PTR confirm ?
