It might be worth waiting to request the sig until you have changed faction, the reason I am suggesting this is that we ask for the armoury link so we can see what your character looks like (and a lot of artist also uses a program where we can import you char to create the render using the link). In your case you want something completely different then what can be seen on there.
Other alternative is to provide screenshots of the character you actually want.

Not sure how helpful I could be, as far as tips. From my understanding, most of the work here is done using Photoshop and GIMP and I use neither of those programs.

There are literally tons of signature tutorials out there (quite a few nice ones are linked in the first post of this thread, in fact), but again, they are mostly Photoshop related and not entirely helpful for someone like me, who uses Paint Shop Pro 8. When I started out making sigs (seems like eons ago), I had a tough time finding sig tutorials specifically made for PSP users. Usually I had to reference Photoshop tuts, which was confusing at times, as the tools/filters they used/described were kinda different from what I had available. I spent most of my time trying to figure out how to replicate certain effects in PSP, through trial and error. It wasn't (and still isn't) always easy. Maybe it is the same for you, being a GIMP user, I don't know.

These days, I use their tutorials mostly as inspiration and tend to just wing it when the mood strikes.

Best advice/tip I can offer is to practice, practice, practice. The more acquainted with your chosen image program you are, the better and don't be afraid to try using tutorials that aren't necessarily for your particular program (feel free to try some I made for PSP users, via my dA link). Even if you can't produce an exact or even similar outcome as the tut, you may find you stumble upon something that you can still utilize in your own work.

I cannot speak for the others, but I simply save/export the final image as a .jpeg. The only thing I have to be watchful of is the text colors. Sometimes they can go wonky during the conversion process. If that happens, I usually return to the original psp file and modify the colors till I find something that is able to work without changing significantly during the file save, if that makes sense.

General colour scheme: I like the black and green scheme of the armor set with the purple undertones and spell effects--but adding any colors is completely up to the artist.
Any extras: An avatar to match but i would like the avatar to have a clear background with the image being croped around it as a small figure. See avatar reference at the bottom. If doing an avatar like that is too much, I completely understand and would be completely happy with an avatar made matching the signature like the others I've seen. Just making it face a different direction or a snippet of a defining point in the signature. Maybe some grey and purple smoke would be cool since I am a Rogue. But completely optional.

I appreciate anyone taking the time out to do this. Being good at Photoshop myself, I am looking for something professionally done and I am so grateful of the generosity in this thread. I settled on a gamer tag for myself after a while of trying to come up with one that gives me that "that's it!" feeling and now that I have, I want some imagery to go with it.

I love the armor I linked and want to be in that armor in the image. I also would like to be wielding Warglaives from BT and Human Male. I like the closeup sigs so if getting the weapon in there becomes too much of an issue, its not. Big deal. Anything else is completely up to the artist, but just for a reference, here are some other signatures I liked:

It would have our guild battle standard on both ends just as it appears in game. Maybe fluttering in the wind a bit.

In medium sized text top dead center of the banner would appear the text "Are you prepared for?"


A pally hammer would streak from the "sky" hit "the ground" in the middle of the screen followed by pally wings popping and blazing from the place where the hammer hit.

Then Judgement would appear in large gold letters taking up much of the banner.


Anyone feel like biting into this?

I am new here, but I would imagine your success rate is decreased without using the request template.

Reading the OP and following the directions is a good place to start.
