0 light yogg discussion (from STARS) (translating in progress)

    Below is translation from

the Q&A from a stars member after they down 0 light yogg (with their strats), (very long, so translating in progress)

Some problems I always want to try to discuss before, now finally I can with permission. This post is not about Strat or Tips. Only talk about the interesting things about this boss, and why it is so important. So the pics will be just so so…
    (blah blah, no use)
Q: Why someone says 0 light yogg is no patch no down
A: AS everyone knows, 0 light yogg is the all about p3, so all discussion below will be about p3. According to the conclusion of some EU/US forums, some players think 1 light need 6+ minutes to finish killing boss, and then take into account of HOT of the Shadow Beacon and more pressure of tank, we need 4-5 tanks and 5-6 healers, more than 1 light and dps reduced by 10% also. So that not considering the difficulty of Beacon, only dps req will make boss berserk. A lot of people even think all people with full set of lvl 239 gear can not do it with that kind of dps req.
And that the guild that get most of the FD: Ensidia, after killing H Mimiron 2 months , and still did not kill 0 light yogg, so numerous guilds concluded it impossible, that why it is important…

Q: Then is 0 light yogg no patch no down?
A: We already down this boss, so obviously it is doable, (of course there is one small hotfix in the middle, which we will discuss the impact below). Also, after we down H Mimiron, we did some “sandbox calculation”. Although at that time, we are not sure about the number of beacons yet, we know for sure at that time: DPS to Yogg should be the key. At that time, we were thinking about 10 warlocks can do it in 3 mins and within 3 iteration of Shadow Beacon, then we get raid of a lot of problems to handle beacon. Afterwards, in the process to practice 0 light, besides the classes advantage, our skill and gear also increase dps greatly. A lot of dpser (those must face boss to attack), have like 100% increase dps compare to the first 1 light down. So we did not use the extreme raid composition.

Q: Why Affli warlock are MVPs
A: Because p3 is the most unique stage for dpsers in WOW history, you need turn around every 11-19s to dodge “gaze”, and that means dpsers only have 2/3 of the time facing boss. And most of Affli warlock spells can cast with back facing yogg. Another important reason, p3 Yogg begin with 30% health, and affli warlock can have the minor execute after 30% and major execute after 20%, so drain soul can get to 16-18k per tick later and p3 dps can get to 7k-7.5k. Affli warlock is the best class to reduce p3 time, and they are really useful in p2 as well for multi-target, mobile natural of affli warlock. We use 5 Affli warlock in the boss which is less than we think and seems can use even fewer, but make the encounter more luck dependent.
The other MVP here is rogues, the 30% health of yogg bring them a lot of buffs and with T8 bonus, fok use very little energy, according to our rogue, 8k-10k dps is possible, but because we need also take into account of p2 and p3 rogue need interrupt, so we did not really use too many.
At the same time, these 2 can do very good aoe too, so it become the best of dpser here, you may see other dps have higher number, that does not tell you the whole story and the core dpser here is rogue and warlock.
I still think 10-15 warlock will make it walk in the park and that is what make this encounter not the greatest encounter of all.

Attached: The raid class role this FD of 0 light yogg
    3 rogues,
1 dps dk, 1 tank dk
2 shadow priests, 1 holy priest
    5 warlocks

    2 hunters

1 enh shaman, 1 element shaman
1 dps warrior, 1 tank warrior
1 tank druid, 1 healing druid

    Warrior: tank/armor warrior dps yogg/buff
Mage: p2 decurse outside (the only choice), dps boss, and aoe when beacon explodes.
Priest: disc heal/shadow major aoe dpser for control adds health (when beacon explodes)
Shaman: dps on yogg and buffs
DK: best tank here/unholy with +13% magic damage/help AOE
Pally: best healer here MVP/ret dps boss and buff
    Warlock: Major dpser to yogg
    Rogue: AOE MVP
Hunter: drag beaconed IG away when needed and dps on yogg
    Druid: tank/mobile heal

Q: 0 light and 1 light, what is the major differences:
    A:
    1. Changes in strat: First thing ever mentioned mostly are IG cannot be killed, and every 45 sec, there will be 5 IG (only 3 first time) will have Shadow Beacon and heal other adds around with HOTs, those HOT heals 375k in 20secs( with MS debuff), and stackable. Because these IG adds have the damage proportional to their health, (roughly speaking, 1% adds hit around 2k on tank and 100% adds can hit 35k). The high spike damage when HOT up is the major reason to kill the tank and the raid. So how to separate those 5 adds apart 20 yards from each other are the key of p3. That is why this is the fight that ask for the most from tank after 4dk…
    2. The req for gear is increased, because lack of buffs from 4 keepers, (-40% damage, -20% healing received, -20% moving speed, -20% HP), make it a very hard gear check, besides the dps problem discussed above, survival of tanks also a very hard problem, we killed 1 light yogg in mid June quite easily and feel it easier than unnerfed H Mimiron, also proves gear is very important for yogg fights.
    3. The requirement of sanity also increased. This is seldom brought up by others, but it is important, in p3, the dpser with high sanity have much higher chances to do high dps, which means you need to be extra careful in p2 for sanity. For normal yogg, we never care about the fear casted by yogg (which jumps ro other players in range after duration), now you need extra careful for 0 light. And people go insode the dream also need to be extra careful for your sanities.
    4. Soft enrage, 0 light yogg is different with normal, normal mode, you only have 15 mins hard enrage, but for 0 light, the 4th wave of Shadow beacon is almost the limit you can go, so in fact a 180s soft enrage, that is also the problem killed most guilds.

Q: What is the strat STARS uses? (I know this is what you all want, lol)
A: Our P3 tactics are very delicate, and I can say it this way, 3 tanks/4 healers/2 hunters, anyone of them press 1 wrong key, it is a wipe. Maybe there will be better strats later, but we are proud we win the encounter with this strat.
First, introduce the basic information of Shadow Beacons, after beginning of P3, every 45 secs, boss will give the 3-5 Immortal Guardians on the field a buff called Shadow Beacon, and a sign similar to hunter mark (but purple) on the head of the adds. (first time always 3, and later can be 4 or 5), and after 10 sec, a animation of arcane explosion will be there around each affected adds. The real effect is that 20 yards around the exploded Immortal Guardian, all hostile mobs will get a Hot do 750k in 20 secs and can stack. So the purpose of the strats is to do 2 things:
    1. When Beacon explodes, every affected mobs are 20 yards apart from each other.
    2. When Beacon explodes, every affected mobs are 20 yards apart from Yogg.

The real flow is like this:
    1. Position:Similar to normal Yogg, all melee dps stay near boss, and also take care of new adds and interrupt life drain casted by adds. And also some melee dps when they can dps on yogg all the time.

    2. When boss do cast the of Shadow Beacon on adds, tank do the follow move:

First Beacon, this is a very well determined beacon, only have 5 adds , and because the new adds won’t get it, so almost certain 1/2/3 will get it, and tank only need to move according to the graph to A/B/C 3 spots. And after beacon explodes, move back fast, and assigned dpser AOE to suppress the health of the adds and make sure tank can survive.

    (TO BE CONT.)
