Is it really fun to rush through an instance?

I did COS heroic last night and a paladin in the group was adamant to rush through it as quick as possible because "it's funnier lol".

My question to you all; is it really fun to rush through the heroics?

Even if you've done the instance a few times you still have to focus on what you're doing, especially if you want to get a couple of achievements along the way.

You ask such a weird question. That only depends on what you want and like. It depends of the group mood and inertia.
    Why Not ^^

    Only if it's a raid.
And only if everyone's mind set is on a speed run/speed kill.

Besides that I have more fun on difficult encounters

It's not weird at all. When you join an average random PUG is your first thought "let's rush through this x instance" or are you more set on doing it properly and maybe earn a few achievements along the way.

What do you do if it's a pug and one person in the group decides that it has to go "faster faster go go !!11".

Re: Is it really fun to rush through an instance?

faster means having a higher pace in killing mobs = more exiting then pulling every mob, killing it and on to the next.

exitement is good! and when you clear is fast enough you can get the mount in CoS

faster run = more badges for jems+more time to get other heroics in=More frozen orbs to win=more items to DE

Exactly. And it doesn't look good when you get a "stfu" as a response when you ask the paladin to switch his crusader aura to something else.

Steamroll the instance. Make it wish that it was never created and then spit on its corpse. Thats how I like to run instances.

Once I found out how wellgeared a tank is, I myself find it hilarious to pull more mobs. While being the healer that is. I mean, whack-a-mole wouldn't be fun if one mole popped up every 12 seconds now would it?

Depends on the gear and skill of the group. If the tank has crappy gear, and starts pulling giant packs, killing the whole raid because he can't keep aggro, and if he can he can't take the damage.

But i personally like the big AoE packs, and as a warlock i never have to worry about mana, so rushing through an instance is only great fun for me.

So long as you do not wipe, you should pull as quickly as the group can manage. Otherwise I'm guessing you jsut want to be semi-afk throughout the instance :P

Re: Is it really fun to rush through an instance?

I always pull as fast as I think the group can handle.

Why? Well, because it's the only way people will get better. You can push a heroic fast enough to challenge players, force them to think on their toes.

Anecdote: I run heroics with my brother a lot, and he gets a kick out of messing with me, seeing if I can keep us from wiping when he does something. So, he'll dash off mid-pull, and pull another 2-4 packs of mobs. This works best on his rogue obviously, but he does it on cat/boomkin too.
The goal: See if I can handle it.
The tricky part: I'm a DK tank and sometimes this happens when -everything- is on cooldown. That panicked moment where you watch a herd of elites running at your healer from around the corner, stretched out so you can't hit them all at once.. Where you take stock of your abilities and try to figure out how the hell you'll live.. That's why I run heroics.

Of course, heroics at a casual pace are fine with a group of friends if you're on vent and joking around.

If I'm with a bunch of schmucks in a pug? My thought process is like this: "Every minute we spend in here is another minute where someone might randomly DC, leave, or say something dumb I have to respond to. I want to finish as soon as possible."

Yeah, I love rushing. I have the gear to support it. If I wanted to go slow, I'd log on one of my nongeared alts.

Re: Is it really fun to rush through an instance?

Heroics are just gold making badge farming fun for you and your buddies! That's really it. Some have a few unique bosses that make you do some of your lesser used abilities, but not many(excluding achievments mostly). It just ends up happeneing with my core heroics group, and we don't even realize it. We are on vent making jokes and talking about pointless stuff and hitting on each other. Going fast is just a by product of doing them zillions of times over.

If any heroic takes us longer then 30m it's probly because someone needed an afk or crashed/dc'd. Even 4 manning them rarely takes a few minutes longer in most cases.

Re: Is it really fun to rush through an instance?

only way to put up with heroics (which all our alts will have to do in 3.2) is speed kills.

And CoS is always a speed run for the drake. Not like it's hard. We did it yesterday with a ret pally that hit 80 just before the heroic, a shammy enhance that had been 80 for 5 days, and some random pug players that didn't outdps the shammy, and got the drake with 3mins to spare.

heroics = easy, even for alts.

i do not care how long it takes aas long as there is 0 downtime. if the grp is geared it will seem like a rush job, if grp is in blues itl take longer idc

You could argue that CoS has to go at a fast pace anyway, its not a 'regular' instance when you can stop and smell the daisies for 5 minutes if you want, theres waves at the start, and arseface (you know Arthas :P) moving along at his own pace.

Rushing through other instances that dont have a timer or an npc dictating pace, there is no need most of them are done in 30 minutes regardless of rushing.
