    Noob Mage Stoof

So I'm leveling my mage, just dinged 70 last night, and I figured I'd get this out of the way before I actually hit 80.
Obviously, I'm not going to have gear worth crap when I level, except for a few crafted items I'll try to pick up as quickly as possible.
What spec is going to be the best for me when I first ding 80, and what spec should I aim for as soon as my gear starts picking up?
Also, I plan on running 2's with a rogue friend of mine, and PMR for 3's.  Any advice on that as well?
    Thanks in advance.
Ohh, and what glyphs should be used for both?

For beginning 80, I would say FFB Spec, sorry I don't have it offhand, but you could probably find it easily. For pvp, definitely frost spec. You can find these pretty easily, sorry I don't have them offhand.

Yeah, I was thinking Arcane for that reason, and hitting Torment/FFB when I geared up a bit more. But what glyphs should I be using as well? Also do you have an actual spec for me to copy? :3

I would never go arcane in poor gear. It's not a good spec in any gear, it's behind both fire/ttw and ffb. In poor gear. In average gear. In good gear.

But even worse, arcane in poor gear suffers from severe mana problems. You'll do much better dps with a proper ffb rotation (fire/ttw in poor gear also suffers from mana issues) than a gimped arcane one. Even if it means missing 3% of your spells due to lack of hit.

I disagree with ^. Arcane is always proven to be better in short fights ie: heroics. Go with arcane until you hit ulduar 10 and above. Then switch to FFB or Fire/TTW. Mana is never really a problem for me as arcane, just use evocation and mana gems effectively and you'll be fine. Also if your a blood elf macro arcane torent with Arcane Barrage, since it dosent trigger GCD it will make sure your not "forgetting" to use it. Its a nice little trick I picked up. As for glyphs get Arcane Blast, Arcane Missles, and Arcane Power. Talents I usually go:

but there are about 2 points you can just mess around with.

Then when your gear improves switch to Fire/TTW for raiding with Fireball Glyph, Molten Armor Glyph, and Living Bomb Glyph. Talents: http://www.wowarmory.com/talent-calc...00000000000000

As for Arena Frost is the way to go. Check out my buddies armory, hes way better at pvp than I am. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...horn&n=Magerko

As for BGs Frost is still solid although I prefer Arcane, more fun for me. But it only really shines if you have your own pocket healer keeping you alive Here is spec if you want to try it out
http://www.wowarmory.com/talent-calc...00000000000000 Same Glyphs as above arcane but substitute arcane power for evocation.

This is all based on my experiences so try them out for yourself and see how you like it. Have Fun!
