Kel's Talent Suggestions: 61 points times THREE

So, I'm sleep deprived, and the numbers need working out, but hey this is me coming up with some almost drunk ideas.

Starting with Discipline, because I'm an unoriginal bastard:
    Power Word: Barrier (Rank 1)
    36% base mana cost
1.5 sec cast, 4 minute cooldown (shortened by Aspiration)

Places a protective barrier on the targeted location, absorbing up to 60 000 damage of the members inside. This effect ends if a single target would have lost 50% of its hp before counting any absorption effects. While under Power Word: Barrier, the cost of Power Word: Shield is reduced to zero mana, but cannot trigger effects such as Borrowed Time, Rapture, Reflective Shield, or Body & Soul. Power Word: Barrier lasts for up to 15 seconds, and those affected by it cannot be protected again for 2 minutes.

    *****

    Next, onto Holy!
    Brilliant Radiance:
    32% base mana
    Instant Cast
Blesses the target with the purity of the Light, increasing the effects of all heal-over-time spells on the target by 10%, and also increases all absorb effects on the target by 5%. In addition, when an attack or spell strikes the target, the attacker receives Blinding Light, reducing their chance to hit with spells and attacks by 3% for 20 seconds. Brilliant Radiance may only be cast on one target at a time (per Priest), and lasts 10 minutes.

Hunters don't really use Scorpid Sting, and last time I looked (things may have changed) Balance druids without mana problems glyph Insect Swarm to drop the miss chance for higher dps, but this fits a Holy Priest wanting to protect those in her care.

    *****

Shadow, an old friend returns but it's exclusive to Inner Fire.

    Shadow Guard
    19% base mana
    Instant Cast, 45 second cooldown
Draws upon the shadow to protect you, increasing your spellpower by <equivalent of next rank of Inner Fire>, your spellhaste by 6%, and has a chance to knock back a physical attacker by 20 yards. This knockback cannot occur more than once every 6 seconds. This spell has three charges.

Also, Improved Inner Fire would improve this spell in both the charges and the spellpower given.

Re: Kel's Talent Suggestions: 61 points times THREE

The shadow talent looks blatantly broken. Maybe if you changed it to a 2 second stun or some such. But there are too many knockbacks in the game as it is to add another and this one the most overpowered of em all as you get to do it 3 times in a row.

Re: Kel's Talent Suggestions: 61 points times THREE

The shadow one looks kinda overpowered. Perhaps if you changed it to something like

    Shadow Ward
Increases your spellpower by (Inner Fire), your spellhaste by (whatever), and next time you are struck in melee your attacker is rooted to the spot for 4 seconds and all movement impairing effects are removed from you. When you are struck in melee Shadow Ward is removed.

This way it counts as either a nice DPS cooldown, which is good for PvE or nuking someone down in PvP, or you can trade the dps aspect of it for a quick getaway effect from melee.

EDIT: forgot to comment on the other ones.

Discipline one looks nice, as I understand it it's a sort of targeted AMZ but for all damage. It's cooldown looks long enough to not make it OP, but it looks like a very good CD for clutch healing. Perhaps maybe make it instant cast so it can be a reaction thing, say if you see someone standing in an AoE you can quickly save them with it.

    The holy one is a bit boring honestly. My suggestion;

    Brilliant Radiance
Your target radiates blazing light, increasing the effect of all heal over time effects on him/her by 10% and giving them 5 charges of radiance. Each charge of radiance gives attacks used against the player a 20% chance to miss. Each attack or spell targeted at the player will remove one charge of radiance, regardless of whether or not it hits.

Gives the target a nice kind of cheat death mechanic by giving them massive avoidance for 5 attacks, as well as giving a little HoT bonus as well. Could be quite good for PvP and fits with the Holy vibe of saving targets from death, like Guardian Spirit.

    Guardian of Life
6% of base mana 40 yd range
    Instant cast 3 min cooldown
Calls upon the Guardian of Life, negating all damage taken by 100% for 3 sec and
weakening off the next 10 sec, reducing -10% each second.

    Shadow Word: Paranoia
23% of base mana 20 yd range
    Instant cast 2 min cooldown
A word of Paranoia, creating a dark twin of the target which will attack it for 15 sec.
The dark twin can not be attacked or targeted.
That power word absolution one is overpowered.

I added it for flavor, and to make a really really cool cooldown, because PW:B has been floating around as a concept for awhile now.

    Good initiative, Kelesti!

    --

The Discipline suggestion isn't a bad idea, borrowing a bit from anit-magic zone while retaining a unique flair. It's of limited use to the maintank in PVE but I guess that's the idea. This is a raid-protection-spell, but consider that it may be ridiculously OP in PVP. For PVE though, it goes a long way towards making discipline a bit stronger in the raidhealing department. I like the principle for PVE.

That said, I'm not really sure the zero-cost-shields is actually a boon if you also remove all procs from PW:Shield. And also, the "weakened soul-like" debuff, while nescessary to prevent the shield from being totally imba, is also feeling a bit clunky considering this is a geographically placed buff.

Imagine you place a WW1 trench protecting soldiers against damage. But because some of the soldiers visited a trench earlier, the current trench offer them no protection. It doesn't really add up :P

    --

The holy spell is also an idea I like in principle; it's like an inverse hunters mark. Apart from having a useful role in PVE (boosting renew and PW:Shield on a personal level, and offers a wonderful raid synergy with all other healers), it is also pretty darned useful in PVP since it adds the miss chance.

However, as someone already pointed out, it's also a bit boring; and keep in mind that this has to compete against going for the 21pt disc talent where you get a very powerful bonus to your PW:Shield plus uinmatched mana efficiency while getting there (Mental Strength, Mental Agility). As holypriests would very much want this, the 61pt talent frankly needs to feel "unmissable" (like GS). Guardian Spirit may be boring, but you will definitively notice it is there: +40% healing done and death protection (if bugged) makes a damned large difference. I cannot say the same about this spell.

But I like the idea, and it reminds me about the old scrapped "Mark of Divinity" that priests never got in WoTLK, and which was later inversed and given to paladins. I believe such a spell like you suggest could solve the problems holypriests currently have for MT healing. It's all about tweaking the effect somewhat!

    --

Finally, the shadow spell. I think this is actually a bit too powerful PVP and a bit too boring in PVE. I don't say it's not giving spriests a much needed boost to PVP survival, but for a start, the knockback should only happen against melee attacks, and 6 seconds is too often. Also, the spellpower/haste is obviously tagged on for PVE, but also ends up a bit bland.

To be honest, I think shadowpriests need a new cool spell for a 61pt talent. They already have enough buffs to juggle about, and while that is a large part of the spriest experience, they should get something that gives them a bit of umph; preferrably also a bit of burst damage (without going paladin-style overboard here!).

Going with the vampire lore, vampires have reportedly turned into mist at times (dispersion), but the major form we all know them for is obviously a swarm of bloodsucking bats. Make the batswarm an offensive dispersion, where the bats lunge themselves against the target offering some nice burst damage that also heals the caster, re-applies devouring plague/swpain, and I might consider respeccing shadow just for the awesome of it.

    That's my quarters.

    What? No, seriously, what?
Why as a Holy Priest are you talking about a Main Tank healing 61 point talent? We have a whole different healing spec that specialises in that and you want to broaden Holy´s healing range further? Losing out in our main area as it is this patch.

And a 61 point talent that makes druids EVEN BETTER? Absorb effects? You are raiding with a disc priest? They can buff themselves with their 61 point talent, I am not wasting that many points to do it for them. Renew is a great HoT but it is by no means something we all want to cluster bum and make ourselves rely on tab and then first 3 number keys on our keyboards like druids.

Even if Blizzard refuses to admit it, we are raid healers. We arn´t much else, we even have another spec to do the stuff Holy isn´t very good at.

Also Light and things like that are too paladin like. Leave the light to them. We get the essence of healing which doesn´t really look like anything, it is just there and we use it.

    Brilliant Radiance 5 Minute Cooldown
Reduces damage taken by friendly targets within 60 yards by X%. Lasts Y seconds.

After the completion of this effect, those affected will become Fatigued and unable to benefit from Brilliant Radiance again for 10 min.

Basically your "Pop this when the raid starts taking heavy damage button" button. Debuff to prevent stacking holy priests and chaining this to trivialize raid damage.

That was kind of the point to the debuff on the Disc Priest debuff too. Raid wide Shield Wall, while cool, is a bit bleh.

And to Danner, okay, make Lightwell trainable, and my holy talent spell the new 31 pointer. I'd take that any day.

And to Magicism, any Holy Priest that's not dishing one of your strongest spells (at this point in the game, Renew) on the tank between raid healing really isn't optimizing their role. Renew is powerful. Plus it gives you a boon in 5 and 10 mans, because any Holy priest in those can't cry "but I'm a raid healer not a tank healer". And finally, it freaking gives Holy some synergy that we've been needing. Rogues never had synergy, because they were the best dps. Now "best" is a perspective thing, and we as a class/spec offer diddly squat from one healer to another. I'd take this small buff to tank healing any day, even if I didn't use it.

But Lightwell being trainable (disappearing upon entering shadowform) for this would work as a 31 point.

    Deal!

Now all that remains is to mind control Ghostcrawler... I knew I'd find a use for that spell someday!

I like that idea - maybe give it a 2 sec cast time so that it's interruptable and make it so that you swarm your victim for 7 seconds doing a lot of damage but also make it that once you 'swarm' you're untargettable (cos you're a load of bats) and stick a short horror at the end of it (although that might be a bit too OP).

Re: Kel's Talent Suggestions: 61 points times THREE

All i want for patch 3.3/Maelstrom is the Argent Confessor's Lightwell. That would make me a happy panda... just because its revamp is something I've been looking forward to for a long time.

As for Disco and Holy 61point talents:

    Disco:

I like the PW:B idea... a targeted ground based AoE absorb would bring both a unique mechanic for both PvP & PvE and bring another damage spike CD that Blizz has seemed to fall in love with. Give it a modest SP coefficient so it can scale with level... and slap a 3min/5min CD on it for balance.

    Holy:

Ya know... Holy has so many tools, its hard to really conceptualize what the 61pointer will be. I really do not hope its a mostly PvP oriented talent, as it would take a crazy revamp of holy to ever make viable holy pvp happen.

We already know "Holy Form" will never happen, 'cause they are trying to get away from "form" restrictions. Even though being restricted from "doing damage" in a healing spec is "boring"... but if I want to "do damage," I must go shadow. GC has more discrepancies in his logic than a Michael Bay flick has explosions and plot holes. ...but I digress...

We have a "tank" CD in GS already... so that's out. If I were a Holy paladin, Resto shaman or druid, I bet a tank CD will be in your future.

    (1) Maybe another short CD spell?
    (2) A "burst healing" (1-2min)CD, like a Holy PI?
    (3) A "consecrate/D&D" type effect, either centered on the caster or target-able like D&D, that heals anyone standing in it for Xsec with an Ysec CD?
    (4) A summoned "Light Wisp" that throws a "Holy Bolt" (less powerful than FH) at the lowest raid member in range every Xsec for Ysec. Can be "sacrificed" for a "Light Nova" that hits everyone within Zyards for the same as its single target heal. (1-3min CD)?

Didn't say Renew isn't powerful. I was trying to point out that it doesn't really fit in with the view of Holy Priests. And sure it will definatly help tank healing but Paladins don't use HoTs and they are arguably the best tank healers imo. Obviously this is purely from a 25 man point of view, just I would not be happy with a 61 point talent that is only useful for 5 and 10 mans. And I don't think many other people would be happy as well. Tbh with the 5 and 10 man view, the absorb effect would be even more situational. How often do you run with a disc and holy healer setup for 10 mans and although shields are extremely useful in 5 mans, a 61 point talent that pandas to them is a bit iffy.

The increase in personal HpS is not going to be anything near 61 point standard. Personaly we are fine for synergy, we just need consistancy. Just my view.

A horror during the effect seems a bit more fitting. Being untargettable is a little on the OP side, except for Holy Priests who are already dead and going to be again soon. So the target you're swarming is under a horror, they can't touch you. Anyone else has a 50% reduced chance to hit you with a physical attack, but magic can still hit full-force. Tossing a fireball into a swarm of bats still does full damage, last I checked my P&P stuff.

An holy talent giving bonuses to "all" HoTs on the target (so mostly druids, and you for 1 (one) spell, and increasing absorb effects by 5% (so giving a bonus to a Disc priest, not to yourself) ?

A discipline talent giving a 60'000 absorb damage on a (talented) 3.10min CD, when a standard Death Knight tank Magic Shield, is absorbing only magic, for more or less 15'000 damage. Plus 0 costs of PW:S inside it.

I...feel like someone here likes more Discipline.

P.S Useless having the "cannot be protected again for 2 minutes" if it has a max talented CD of 3.10 minutes.

    The shadow one seems good.
