Leveling as prot, which stance(s) to use

Hi there,

Currently leveling my warrior alt who is prot specced and currently level 25. Goes al fine and smooth but I really doubt about which stance(s) to use while leveling/DPS-ing. Right now I start in battle stance --> charge --> rend --> switch to defensive stance and then either thunderclap/heroic strike/revenge wait for glyph to trigger a free heroic strike and so on.

Is this a good and fast way to DPS or should I only use defensive stance to tank in an instance and stick to the battle stance to level/DPS?

Why not just stay in Defensive stance?

It worked for me all the way to 80.

Prot's pretty fast, especially in Old World. You can handle a load more!

It worked for me all the way to 80.

Actually it does especially regarding survivability. Tried it for a while in battle stance only but it sucks compares to defensive stance.

If you get the right glyphs, it's even faster!

I'd recommend the Glyph of Battle (minor), Glyph of Revenge (major), Glyph of Devastate (major, when you get the ability) and I think everything else is free for all. I use the Glyph of Blocking, as well.

The only issue with Glyph of Devastate is you sometimes end up "overstacking" Devastate if you're trying to get Sword & Board to proc.

I leveled 50-70 as dual wield prot with some points in fury.Best choice I had ever made. Make sure to get a slow mh and fast oh. ( don't forget a shield either, they come in handy when you get a few mobs)

Charge, thunderclap, zerker stance devastate spam/whirlwind.


But you are level 29, so I would say stay in defensive stance.

But who the f*ck cares? You use Devastate for its damage and the snb procs. The Glyph is only there to get the sunders faster (and the extra damage to devastate). "Overstacking" isnt an issue at all, just a side-effekt.

prot spec with DPS gear is the way to go. stay in def stance. revenge shield slam etc. = win

You can rend in def stance. Just use a charge->def stance macro until you get down to warbringer.
