Re: World of Warcraft - Cataclysm

I can see the video already..
    Code:
*cut to human shooting a bunny*
*text appears on screen "It's about time"*
*cut to Wrynn overlooking an arcane orc mage*
"Jaina, look at this... An orc practicing in the arcane magics? Perhaps the savages are learning... we should prepare our defenses."
*cut to a random horde walking through a dense forest*
*PoM pyroblast comes out of nowhere, striking the horde dead, revealing a night elf mage*
*cut to a dwarf reading a book near one of their archeological discoveries with flames coming from his eyes*
*cut to a blood elf charging a target dummy*
"You are well trained, warrior" says his trainer.
*cut to a dwarf standing in a field*
"Earth, storm, and fire, heed my call" (awesome sounding in the irish accent)
*cut to an undead sending his pet after a random ally*
*cut to a tauren holding a large 2h sword in front of him*
    "For the Light!"
*cut to a tauren priest and a gnome priest both resurrecting a fallen comrade, then they look each other in the eye* (quite a feat)
*cut to two trolls, one very official looking*
"Vol'Jin be requesting your presence 'Mon."
*other troll shifts to cat form or travel and starts to run towards orgrimmar*
Don't look so smug. I know what you're thinking, but Tempest Keep was merely a setback. Did you honestly believe I would trust the future to some... blind, half night elf mongrel? Oh no no no... he was merely an instrument. A stepping stone to a much larger plan. It has all led to this! And this time, you will not interfere.

Re: World of Warcraft - Cataclysm

I really dont get all the whine about this, people saying Blizzard is lazy and god knows what.

This is gonna be great for those who experienced Vanilla and loved it, and for those who never really got to try it.

Perhaps they are just trying to go back in a time where everyone was happy about the game and whine and crying on forums were something that rarely happened? I could be wrong though, but it must be damn shit, even for money, to listen to a bunch of cry babies 24/7.

As it has been stated many many times before, if you dont like the game, quit.
If you are too addicted to quit, shut up.

Listen Boubouille, I have a lot of respect for your web site and 99% of the time you are correct, but this post really is comical. You really put a serious tone into the first "warning" at the top of this post, but the rest of it is just too comical. Generally you say "this has been datamined" or "here's a blue post" or something like that, but here you just say "I got this from reliable sources."
Same thing happened on wow.com a few days back: They said "hey guys, there will be worgens for alliance and goblins for horde. By the way this information is from reliable sources that we aren't going to link to you."

Perhaps somebody from Blizzard sent you this, but to me it looks like all you've got your hands on is their idea book that's been sitting around in a filing cabinet waiting for a day when they can't think of something to mess with.

You misunderstand. Let me put it this way: the guy who designed the art and architecture for, say, Ulduar is not the same guy who got in and coded the polygons.

The guy who coded the polygons is working on retexturing azeroth, which requires minimal input from the art department. The art department is off working on a new game.

    Make sense?

hmm those new class setups look very strange to me. whats the chance that those classes are for new races actually? maybe new races IDs are not in files yet so currently DBCs point to other races? is there any chance to check that boubouille?
I have enough of EA ruining great franchises and studios, forcing DRM and Origin on their games, releasing incomplete games only to sell day-1 DLCs or spill dozens of DLCs, and then saying it, and microtransactions, is what players want, stopping players from giving EA games poor reviews, as well as deflecting complaints with cheap PR tricks.

I'm not going to buy any game by EA as long as they continue those practices.

Most of the new race/class combos make no sense. Sure you can find a few NPC's of each race that are the exception, but as playable characters they don't seem ... right.

However, I have to say that Undead Paladins would be a 180 degrees on the current lore. Paladins were the only humans immune to the Scourge plague.

Re: World of Warcraft - Cataclysm

I was a bit skeptical about this till i gave it some thought they spend less time and resources(money) finishing places like hyjal and gilneas than creating a whole new continent.

also you mentioned that they will remove barrens as a low level zone and split it in 2 high level zones then i realized that not so long ago they added a zeppeling between Thunderbluff and Ogrimmar so if that be the case it will allow fast travel without having to run thru the high level zone.
the only thing that i don't like about all of this is that it will feel kinda weird you running around kalimdor for example level 80-85 barrens and right besides it Mulgore full of low level mobs. assuming they don't use phasing to hide the low level areas in barrens.

Speculation that it's the next expansion.

How would you know which class and race combinations Blizzard are going to put in their next expansion?

This suggests Blizzard wants more room for expansions before hitting the level 100 cap. With less leveling to do (along with the revamped leveling listed below likely to increase the speed and ease of leveling), leveling a new race remains appealing for new and existing players alike.
The second part makes sense, but still no source. Complete speculation as far as I can see.

    Goblins
The Goblins have found themselves washed upon an island off the coast of The Barrens, their islands devastated by the cataclysm. As they strive to recover, they come across an Orc captured on an Alliance ship and rescue him. The Orc turns out to be none other than Thrall himself, and in return offers the Goblins a place within the Horde. These events are carried out in a quest line, allowing players to experience first-hand the reasons behind the Goblins' shift from neutrality.

It is unclear if the old Goblin locations such as Kezan and Undermine will be included in Cataclysm with the revelation of the Goblins' displacement.

    Worgen
The cataclysm has cracked open the Greymane Wall, finally revealing what has happened to the kingdom of Gilneas and its citizens. The Worgen have ventured forth from Gilneas and sought help from the Alliance, deciding to join them to combat the new threats of Cataclysm.
Considering the Cataclysm happened over 10000 years ago, they took their time looking for new allies. Worgen weren't on Azeroth 10000 years ago and I'm not sure but Goblins might not have been around either.

It's complete illogical speculation that they could be the new races. If you even bothered to read up on the lore behind both races you would understand that at the current point in time it makes no sense for either Goblins or Worgen to pick a side.

Last but not least, Worgens will have two forms and will be able to morph between a human form and a worgen one. Players should be able to pick both appearances when they create their character.
Speculation. Although if Gilneas where to be released, it probably would be home to tones of Worgen.

Cataclysm will be the first expansion not to introduce a new continent, instead making use of previously unreleased zones and revamping existing ones.

    Classic Azeroth Revamp
A cataclysmic event caused by Deathwing and Azshara will change the face of Azeroth as we know it. Most of the new content for Cataclysm will take the form of a revamped Azeroth, taking advantage of newer additions to WoW such as phasing and daily quests. Most of the quests and mobs in the classic zones will also be redesigned to make leveling less painful. Some zones will change drastically to fit this, e.g.,

    • The Barrens will be split into two separate zones of two different level bands.
    • Azshara will become a low level (~10-20) zone.

    Flying in Azeroth
Part of the redesign of the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor is the introduction of flying to the two continents, allowing access to many new areas and quicker travelling across the large continents.

    Unreleased Zones & Dungeons
With the addition of flying mounts to Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms and the redesign of many zones, most of the previously unreachable or incomplete zones will now be made available to players. This is where most of the new content from 80 to 85 will take place. Some of these are,

    • Hyjal (present)
    • Gilneas - The Worgen starting Zone.
    • Uldum (Most likely as a dungeon)

    Classic Dungeon Revamp
Redesigning Onyxia's Lair in Patch 3.2.2 was just the first step. As most of the leveling will take place in revamped areas of Azeroth, so too will the dungeons, allowing players to use them to level from 80 to 85.

As far as I know, Ragnaros will also be back in this expansion.

    Deathwing
Deathwing the Destroyer / Neltharion the Earth-Warder will play a major role in Cataclysm. Having been driven mad by Old God whisperings and turning against his own kind only to be fail in his attempts, Deathwing has sunk into the shadows. While the Horde and the Alliance were busy fighting back the Burning Legion only to then be beset with the Scourge, he has been lurking and moving things into place. After Lady Sinestra's failed attempts to create a Twilight Dragonflight, he again retreated to Grim Batol and succeeded where she failed. With his results seen in the Obsidian Sanctum, he has finally created the supreme Dragonflight he sought and plans to unleash it upon the world. But what of the Old Gods' sway over him?

    Azshara
Queen Azshara will also play a major part in Cataclysm. Unknown to many mortal races, long forgotten by others, and believe to be dead by her own kind, she has not been dormant in depths of the Maelstrom. Having those around her transformed by the Old Gods into Naga after her failure in the War of the Ancients, she has become far more powerful and a greater threat than she once was. Not content with just Nazjatar and the depths of the sea, Azshara seeks to reclaim power and reign once again. With the true plan behind Lady Vashj's support of Illidan remaining a mystery we do not know what hand Azshara has yet played. The big question remains, is she now serving her "saviors", the Old Gods?

    The Cataclysm
I'm still not sure who is the true end boss of Cataclysm is, but the cataclysm appears to have been caused by attempts to incantation to summon extremely powerful beings using an ancient incantation by Deathwing and Azshara. They're both very powerful, but the cataclysm itself suggests something more powerful is behind it, perhaps their shared past of Old God influence?
Speculation. Where's the proof? It just seems like you guessed some stuff from what Blizzard has been doing and what people have found then jumbled in some extra words and called it news. I do appreciate the effort you put into writing stuff up for the front page as I learn a lot about upcoming patches from them but just stop with the silly speculation. You don't work for Blizzard so how would you know anything that's going to happen? You don't so this is just speculation, like I've said too many times already.
