IDK... only thing I can think of is they start worshiping Elune along with the NEs. They certainly will not fit with the Draenai Naruu, Human/Dwarf Light, the Forsaken Shadow, or the BE First Church of "halp captured corrupted Naruu in a box!"

I think there is quest text eluding to this that was posted on the main page of MMO recently.

    Many things can explain this.

    http://static.mmo-champion.com/mmoc/...colleagues.jpg

The most interesting part is how the tauren regard the relationship between Elune and their Earthmother, Mu'sha. For the tauren, Elune is but one of two eyes of the earthmother. Seeing as how Elune is basically the aspect of the largest moon of the world, it stands to follow that the second moon is the second half of the eye pair. What divinity is represented by the second moon is not known.

But we can assume that it all traces back to the titans somehow. Eonar and the earthmother may very well be the same being. I quote wowwiki on the matter:

Some have theorized that Eonar is in fact the same being as the Tauren Earthmother. Both are mother figures of immense power and are described as loathing the undead. Additionally, Vanir means Earth giant in the Titan's language. Interestingly, "Demeter", upon whom Eonar might be based, can be literally translated as "earth-mother", though this could simply be a coincidence.
So, basically, the tauren apprentice ponders that they may only be following one-half of the eartmother's legacy - the "druidic religion" they learned from the night elves. What is missing is the concept of the light. Even the night elves heed this, but the tauren does not.

I suspect this to change, and this is where a new religion of the tauren comes in. Not to be confused with shamanistic traditions, which follows the spirits of the ancestors and nature (ties in with the druidic religion).

I doubt we'll see cow priests massing for pittance, but as we'll get both paladins and priests, we might just be facing the first organized bovine crusade against the undead yet. And that's ... well, awesome and totally wrong at the same time.

Paladin of Elune just feels weird from a ambiance perspective. First, paladins have always been connected to "The Light." The power that is granted to Night Elf (and presumably Tauren) priest/paladins would be from Elune, a completely different source.

Second, to me... paladins have always been SHABOOOMCRASHMICHAELBAYEXPLOSIONSBOOBSKACHOW.

Priests/Priestesses of Elune have always have had a more meditative, ponderous, and long term approach to things.

Tauren are also very methodical in their actions... and the paladin thing just doesn't seem to fit. But, *shrug* just my opinion.

I'm sure others see Paladins differently.

Elune and the Earthmother have the same powers and are susspected to be the same beeing. So Priest of Elune = Priest of the Earthmother

The Tauren got different god`s, and the sun god is the Taurens light, that is how they can become Priests and paladins.

In a lower level quest for undead Priests, they explain that while the path of shadow is what the Forsaken Priests follow, they must be trained in the light, to gain a better understanding.

For Tauren, I can understand how Priests would make sense with the current reasoning of them following the light of the sun. Shadow would be the other side of their faith, like how death creates life in bacteria and insects, decay creates the oppartunity for new life. If you ignore the darkness, how are you supposed to know where the light is?

I can see a tuarens as priests.

Anybody can become a priest if they have faith. Anybody can choose to have faith in anything.

Unless you dont belive in devine powers there is no reason that the class shouldnt have a priest class.

Like gnomes who dont realy belive any powers are devine wouldnt have a priest class.

Obviously tuaren belive in allot of mystical things so priest is fine by me
When people say "pls" just because its shorter then "please", I feel totally justified to say "No" just because its shorter then "Yes".

    Re: PLEASE? a Tauren-Priest? -.-

What most people have some issues with is the concept of organized tauren religions. Right now, the tauren are pretty much analogous to the native americans of the early 1700s. Turning the free bovine life into a religiously ordered structure is just not compatible.

As you say, you could still do priests. It doesn't have to be organized much. But a paladin order kind of does require heavy organization, religious zeal and an attitude to smite heathens. To fit that into the otherwise pacifist nature of the tauren just don't quite add up.

It fits well with the blood elves. Blood elf paladins work well, the elves are a angry bunch willing to walk over a few corpses to maintain their way of life. Blood elf priests is the more peaceful part of the blood elf religion, but it's kinda twisted anyway.

But tauren? naaah... I can see priests. Paladins is more of a stretch.

This has been explained in at least 10 other threads. The idea from that quest was that they have been following the moon and the druidic ways, and have forgotten about the earth mother's other eye, the sun. The idea being that they will begin to take the power of the sun as something like the light which would work for paladins and priests. Also, they are always a noble and peaceful race and paladins who are fighting for rightuosness are not far from that.

Yeah, I don't really get everyone's shock. I mean, if you take away proper nouns from a discription of Tauren ideology you'd be entirely forgiven for thinking that Priests and Paladins are what is being discussed. Honor, not fighting for pleasure but in the defense of the innocent, not pursuing vengeance for the sake of self-satisfaction, they really apply to both.

That said, the new race combos are the part of the Cataclysm leak I am least convinced about. It's not that I really object to any of the new combos- Dwarf Shaman in particular should've been in the game for ages now- but it seems to be the least... fleshed out, of the information Boub has supplied us.
