    Hit cap overkill?

I'm currently sitting at 406 (15.48%) hit rating with 3 points in suppresion. I've read a few posts but im not sure if im suppose to account for up to 14% of the hit on my own even with suppression or if its 11%??

    Re: Hit cap overkill?

For all casters, the hit cap is 17% minus what you get from talents, buffs, and debuffs on the mob. So, if you have 3 in suppression, a draenei in your group, and a boomkin with imp FF or Spriest, you need 17% - 3% - 1% - 3%, so a total of 10%. If you don't want to rely on the buffs / debuffs, you need 14% with suppression alone.

On the topic of hit rating...

How much hit rating goes into 1%? I seem to always be on either 13,98 or 14,68 and I'd quite like to just get 14 and start gemming/gearing for SP or haste or crit or whatever instead.
Me sorry. Not do bad again, honest. :<

At level 80: 1% spell hit chance = 26.23 hit rating (or 1 hit rating = 0.0381242% spell hit).

    This gives the following numbers:
    with Draenei+Moonkin/SP+Talent you need 262.3 = 10.00%
    with Moonkin/SP+Talent you need 288.53 = 11%
    with Talent you need 367.22 = 14%
    with nothing you need 445.91 = 17%

See how the ratings are? Decimals are rounded, either up or down so the numbers are actually:
    with Draenei+Moonkin/SP+Talent 263 = 10.02% (262 = 9.98%)
    with Moonkin/SP+Talent 289 = 11.01% (288 = 10.98%)
    with Talent 369 = 14.03% (368 = 13,98%)
    with nothing 446 = 17.00% (445 = 16.97%)
"Sharing is caring".. But I don't care!

You have two choices in specs with that much hit.

    A) Survivability Destro(Soul Link/Demonic Embrace)
    B) Deep Destro (Imp SL)

Option B is the "higher" dps increase, but the theory crafting of it all is proving it to be a very minor increase for the loss of 20% less damage taken

NOTE: I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but figured that your next question would involve where to toss those points since your over hit cap

Thank you muchly for that! Even though I'm in a small, casual group (and Horde) so we have a lack of Spriest, Boomkins and Draenei :P

    Re: Hit cap overkill?

It has been proven that blizzard does not round. 440 hit rating is 16.97%, meaning you miss 3 times every 10,000 casts.

Effectively zero, but every time you DO miss it will be Conflag and Haunt

Rounding? HA! That's a mathematical principal that we - here at Blizzard - are above.

Furthermore, our RNG is actually a gerbil on a hamster wheel. The rate at which it runs (in mpH) / 2 is what you're going to be rolling on that 245 gear tonight...Sry, don't expect to get it.
Thanks for jumping on that grenade for me last night. You're the best wingman ever.

You've misunderstood what I meant, the ratings are rounded. Never mentioned that, for example, "9.98% = 10.00%", I did make a typo on the first list (first line has 2 decimals on percent, while the rest has none).

    And 440 = 16.77%

I think I misread your post. I could have sworn it said "440 rating = 17% (440 = 16.97%)" implying the rounding. (And yes, I understand the typo on my part, 440 = 16.77)

    Not quoting ftl.
