Instances are still too hard for casuals :(

OP made me laugh, so I'm going to contribute for a bit of catharsis (if anyone is still reading).

I was on my bank, and a friend of mine who has an alt that dinged a week or so before my last alt, sends me a whisper, do I want to dps H Nexus, the daily and the last spot in his group. I want my druid to be a healer/cat so I know the badges/slight chance at the mace would be worth it, I log over. My druid is in org, I could have hearthed, but I didn't want to blow the CD when I had a couple things to do in org and every person in the group was already closer to the instance than me. I didn't say anything, I did some bank sorting and got something I needed off the AH, then I look, nobody has moved...

Flash forward a heck of a long time and I finally get a summon, step inside and am looking over the group. DK is the obvious tank, since he and I are the only ones there which are tank capable, DK has 20k health. It's h nexus, no big deal, but I want to check him out anyway, first thing I see is a green weapon (I have an addon that puts colored boarders around gear) and a couple other greens, mostly blues though, then I see http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37729 are his hands. I'm currently sending tells to my warlock friend along the lines of "WTF have you gotten me into?" "How are we going to fix this run?" His first suggestion was have me bear tank it in my cat spec/gear, I have 24k and I'm crit immune, so prolly at least as good as this DK, but I still didn't think much of the idea. Meanwhile DK runs off to the right to pull the first dragonkin pat over there, and just before he hits the mob he pops ARMY OF THE DEAD. After I pick my jaw up off the desk I suggested swapping to my DK to tank, managed to convince the original tank that I wouldn't be taking his gear, and swapped over. I show up on my DK to find that the only one in the party still alive is my friend the lock, tank had decided to pull the left side dragonkin with 1 dps logged out and 1 dps zoned out.

I tanked it, it was pretty easy, heals was decent if mostly blue geared and had a fascination with regrowth that I can't understand (WG on CD and rejuv are enough to keep me up), the rogue dps was way under-preforming his gear, and I had to tell the DK not to use taunts, hungering cold, deathgrip etc every other pull, but thankfully I didn't have to endure what the OP did.

I have a bit of a phobia of running heroics with my friend's lock now, he has a tendency to pick the worst tanks I have ever seen (Paladin who couldn't out threat my heals, largely bc he didn't tank mobs on his own consecration, if he remembered to lay one down, etc).

The old MMO-players who were friendly and kind people, those that played SWG, UO, EQ, are gone.
