Yeah I think it is a joke how terribly boring and easy this stuff is. We have one shot every encounter in ToC with the exception of beasts on day 1 because of patch day problems with healer's addons and all that fun stuff. Every encounter has seemed like a joke.

    Re: Tactics for Twin Valkyrs

I really look forward to next week when raids are getting plastered by the heroic mode, but gradually figuring it out and saying unison 'Gawrsh, sure glad we had those stupidly easy modes to learn the positioning of the fights in so that these ridiculously difficult fights aren't too painful to eventually beat'

People need to realize that there were once encounters like Teron Gorefiend where there were ZERO places one could go to practice the mechanics of the fight before being thrown into things and learning through massive amounts of wipes.

ToC takes a wholly different approach by taking the difficult encounters, scaling them back a whole bunch so that even the most disorganized guild can take them on, and giving everyone a chance to see 'Oh, I see, you stand here and do this when that happens, then I run over here and do this' without getting plastered against the wall upon failing the first step.

Lesser guilds will figure out the most efficient way to fight the easier versions and content themselves with getting inferior loot, while stronger guilds will use Normal Mode as a training ground so the raid members can know, from experience, what to do.

Now, think back, wouldn't C'thun have been a LOT easier to learn if his eye-beam-of-death merely tossed you across the room or gave you a snare debuff?

I won't be saying "Gawrsh sure glad we had those stupidly easy modes to learn the"... etc

I will be saying, This fight would be some much more interesting in I hadn't already done it by mashing my face against my keyboard.

The mechanics of Twins really are only a bit more than brutallus was. I can't imagine how much more boring brutallus would have been if I had already face rolled him to death on LoL mode, not to mention the fact that it would have completely ruined the excitement of killing him.

By the way, no decent player would need much practice for gorefiend. Most people i know were able to do it on their first attempt without much trouble.

    Re: Tactics for Twin Valkyrs

The fight was pretty much faceroll. The damage involved was ridiculously low (can be reduced to absolutely 0 raiddamage if people do their thing), it was no real dps race (sure, getting the shield down might require some dps but it's probably at about Patchwerk level if people are quick to react). I do hope the heroic version is much harder.

Best way to train for this fight?

Get Ikaruga on XBLA or Wii. Awesome shooter, same mechanic.

There is actually a cute lil mini game on a website somewhere that lets u practice the Teron Gorefiend fight. go search for it. fun lil game, its actually harder than the Gorefiend fight.

Do you fight Anub'arak afterwards? Or do we have to wait for next week?

    O.o how? lol

maybe its because i didnt really study the fight and we downed it based on a lose undestanding and forehead keyboard smashing, but...

I thought you needed the opposite color aura of the boss to take and deal damage to it? if so how does 1 tank build threat on the other boss when he can onyl have 1 aura etc? or is that incorrect

Having the opposite color aura only increases your damage dealt. You could in theory even do this fight without anyone ever touthing a portal (though you'd need sick dps for the shield and even sicker healing for the aoe then).

For Twin Valkyrs we will split our raid group in two in order to kill two joint bosses: Fjola Lightbane and Eydis Darkbane.

During the encounter you will be able to absorb either black or white orbs that fly in the room. Absorbing white orbs will increase your DPS against dark targets (Eydis Darkbane) and absorbing black orbs will increase the damage against white targets (Fjola Lightbane)

    Abilities:

Power of the Twins: The shared power of the Twins increases Physical damage dealt by 30% and allows the Twin to Dual Wield for 15 sec

Twins Pact (15 seconds cast): The Twin's Pact heals for 20% of their total HP.

Twin Spike (15 seconds cast): The Twin Spike inflicts 100% weapon damage and increases damage taken by 20% for 15 sec or for 10 charges.

These abilities are shared between both Twin Valkyrs bosses, Eydis casts the dark version, and Fjola the light version of the spells.

Touch of Darkness/ Light (15 seconds Cooldown): 7+K Dark/ light damage to players under the effect of the oposite Essence every 1 sec. The Touch of Darkness will not harm targets with the same attributes as it.

Empowered Darkness/ Light: Increases damage dealt to Light/ Dark targets by 100% for 20 sec.

Unleased dark/ light: The Concentrated Darkness / light releases its energies inflicting 12188 to 12812 Dark/ light damage to enemies within 8 yards.

Surge of darkness/ light (5 sec cast): Pulsing a Surge of Darkness Inflicting 1500 damage every 2 sec to Light enemies.

Dark/ light vortex (8 seconds cast, 15 seconds Cooldown): Medium damage (about 6 K) every 1 sec for 5 sec.

Our main challenge is for DPS to be aware of the orbs around the room, and pick only the orb color they need, and for the healers to be aware of what damage ability is going to occur next.

1: We split the raid into 2 groups.

2: Tank Fjola and Eydis apart from each other

3: The Fjola group picks up the black orbs and avoid picking up the white orbs.
Picking up 100 orbs will greatly boost your damage.

4: The Eydis group picks up the white orbs and avoid picking up the Black orbs.
Picking up 100 orbs will greatly boost your damage.

5: Healers keep watching the Bosses abilities being cast (as described above) to expect what kind of healing will be needed next.

6: Keep adjusting to the abilities (it's a bit of a random fight) until they both die (they have shared health pool)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUkXzu7rsOM

To elaborate: You only absorb the same color orbs to the buff you have. If you are hit by the opposing color you will take unnecessary damage.
