Just because your guild's using some awful tactics / raid setups on some bosses doesn't mean that protection paladins should be healing under any normal circumstances.

During all of wotlk the only raid where I found it to be useful to heal was during KT in naxx during the few occasions when I OTd, get caster weapon + shield out and heal until the adds spawn.

As for "only wanting to hit stuff", I am usually high on the dispel meters while tanking, I use hand spells whenever needed on raid members, etc. Draining my mana and making myself useless for a long time (when not tanking) is just plain stupid.

Feel yourself triple (cause even double isn't enough) facepalmed. Just because your raid is that _bad_ doesn't mean prot paladins should ever heal.
