    which profession for shaman?

I'm currently levelling a shaman to play w/ a few friends at 80/85. My endgame experience is limited. The purpose for playing him is for PvP--mostly arena, some BGing. I will spec resto for 5's and likely go enhancement for 3's and BGing. I think I'm going to have him keep his mining, so that I can make a little money on my way up to 80. But, I'm unsure what to do with my other profession. I don't know which ones offer the best statistical advantages.

Jewelcrafting. Jewelcrafting still gives the most benefits and goes together perfectly with mining.
If I was a Blizz server technician, I'd hijack a server and use it to download porn 24/7. Guess why the instance servers always are full B]

LW and alchemy or JC and alchemy. Drop mining ASAP.

LW because in Cata it will be very good as you can reforge your armor with it (and its not bad now either if you get the ToC recepies and sell leg armors). Alchemy because of epic gem transmutes. Takes only 5 seconds per day and you can make up to 1k profit with just 1 click (although its mostly 200-400g)

Really there's very little difference now between professions, JC and BSmithing are more flexible than other profs but it's less of a big deal for Shaman than for classes that want to stack Strength or ArPen.

Engineering is also an option, and much cheaper to level than JC in my experience, except the last 5 points which are stupid. Now if only the nitro boosts worked in Arena. Still the glove upgrades are both very nice for PvP - particularly the extra burst from the pyro rockets.

Even Tailoring is interesting because it potentially gives bigger burst with the stupidly good embroideries - 400 AP procs are not to be sneezed at. But the only other thing it gives you is cheap leg upgrades for resto.

TL/DR - the differences between profs are the smallest they've ever been - it will mostly come down to your personal playstyle and preferences.

Take Minning and Skinning. Pay people for giving you the items. Try to make the items youself leveling up. Just get the mats. By the time your 80 you no longer need gear from Skinning or minning. Your free to make whatever choice you want. You can now drop Skinning and take whatever you want. If you still need money keep minning. That is your biggest money maker.

Also if you see anyone selling Titanimu ORE for 300 gold ask a GM if there selling gold. Because its not worth that much. You may say i can make dust for JC with that but you wont. It takes 10 dust to equal 1 Jewelcrafting reward. If i know the People in the AH there selling it for 310-350 gold. and those people are gold sellers. I know because i had a good long talk with one.

You would need 50 Titainium Ore to equal 10 Dust to get the Reward. And that means to get any patterns you would need 5x that many which would be 50x5=250 titanium Ore. Umm... No. There is no reason to by the ore. Just be happy with what you have. If someone is selling the dust. Remember you need 10 dust. You can buy the dust or wait a day and get a Token like everyone else. If you want to save money DONT buy anything for trade skills that are more than 25gold. EVER!

Keep in mind that not 100% of the server population uses titanium ore just so they can get JC tokens out of it. There are many other uses for it as well. One of them is for titansteel bars, which are in high demand right now for the craftable ulduar/toc boe epic items.

As far as the professions go... Blacksmithing and JC is still the best combo for anything and any class because unlike other professions, it gives you a choice as to which stat boost you would like to take. Whereas other professions like enchanting/LW/skinning/mining/inscription do not let you choose or your choices are very limited.
