Re: Resto Help. Fresh 80 OOM by end of heroic boss fights if not sooner.

Looking over the armory, I think your problem may be more about your SP being low - thus forcing you to rely more on Nourish and Lifebloom to keep the tank up - rather than just low mp5. You should easily be able to increase your SP by 7-800 without relying on drops, just by getting easily available crafteds, PvP items and enchants. A crafted Titansteel Guardian with a +50 SP enchant alone would increase your SP by 300, not including the freed up offhand slot. Wintergrasp has a lovely ring with a nice big chunk of SP. Glove and bracer enchants add another ~60 SP at a minimal cost. Shoulder and head enchants from WG add another chunk of SP.
Diplomacy is just war by other means.

When asking a my resto druid guild leader about this arguement, thinking maybe I was just stupid and missing something, he gave me this.

Where else can you find a 25 spellpower on your gear? (The int is irrelevant, because both gems give pretty much the exact same amount to any druid that isn't COMPLETELY RETARDED). Where else can you find 66 mp5 on your gear?

    Nowhere?

How about in /one gem slot/?

To which they'll reply 'BUT I CANT FIND STRENGTH ON MY GEAR EITHER DURRR' and think they're smart.
So its exactly that, the int from the metas are exactly the same just about, you are arguing 66 mp5 vs. 25 spellpower. Basically, if you have a single peice of gear with spirit on it, then you are gearing for regen, and you could switch metas and switch that spirit peice for a dps caster peice for a crapton more haste and/or crit out of it for even more regen. By putting in a 25 sp meta, you are essentially just making your helm a 2 slot gem without a meta slot.

EDIT: So... give or take a small amount of stats... IED meta is the equivalent of 3 MP5 DRAGONS EYE gems and 1 regular int gem. Skyflare is equal to 1 spell power gem and 1 int gem. So what would you rather have.... 3 full JC ONLY mp5 gems, or 1 epic sp gem.

My God, what a horrible creation. People seeing what they want? Thank God they tried to shy away from that. I know it pisses me off when I'm in an heroic raid, yet in the back of my head all I can think is 'some casual player is playing a heroic dungeon and not wiping.' -Vodkarn

I didn't read the whole thread just the first few so if this is not helpful and repetitive sorry.

If you are a fresh 80, you will run oom if you are chain pulling at a decent speed and boss fights. Good tanks can help but just take a second and drink here and there and use your innervate. This will go away as you get gear. Probably as you get close to every piece being naxx-10 equivelant (iL-200). Then you start to get enough regen on your gear to get you through heroics without ever drinking.

And for the meta argument, what's wrong with saying IED is no good when you're not running oom? That's the deal atm. - and by saying that, Cerelli not only told OP that he should use IED, when having mana issues, he also gave an advice for the time to come, that he should change his meta when he's not having mana issues. Those people arguing with Cerelli, seriously go die in a lake. If you can't make sense of his logic, you're just a dumb fuck.

And exactly not having mana issues is relevant RIGHT NOW, he says he just dinged, SO? I started playing my alliance druid, that I pretty much forgot all about, since I rerolled horde. I had 180 days played in Vanilla, and was in top10 EU guild. It's now about a month ago I dinged 80 (Faction Change, yayyayay!!) and I'm currently full epic feral/resto/balance... (Except my blue OH, but ye you get the point) - Everyone gear up so darn fast, and Resto was my fucking offspec. I tried getting balance and feral gear first. And druid healing in WOTLK is so much different from Vanilla, so I read a but up on it on EJ, got the idea of the new spells, and I'm currently ontop of every healingmeter in pretty much all PUGs I join.

Sorry to say it, but this thread is a waste of time for everyone including myself.
I first want to thank you for being the most pointless post on this topic, job well done. You sure spent a lot of time with your wall of text for this thread to be such a waste of your precious time.

To all others who were helpful I'd like to say I went home that evening, respec, reglyphed, changed spells around, etc and went on to successfully heal H TOC and Naxx 10 without any major issues at all. I even was able to spare Innervate to our other healer who kept going oom.

Thanks to all who we're helpful

This is wisdom that isn't mentioned enough. There's bound to be some items with spirit or mp5 on them that you could replace with DPS gear with slightly more SP/crit. If there aren't, then good for you, enjoy your overall-inferior meta gem, but if there are then the IED is worth a lot more itemization points to you, and you would likely get better overall results by keeping the IED and replacing other gear.

that sounds good on paper, however when you actually sit down to look for items that fit the bill... the list is pretty limited.

This is most of the cloth and leather items iLevel 219 or higher without spirit/MP5 and hit rating. I filtered out hit rating because if you are taking the time to shift out of tree form to DPS, then mana regen is the least of your problems otherwise the hit rating is completely worthless on your item budget. Same goes for resilience. I'm also not listing trinkets (DPS and healer, since that is, IMO, the best way to manage your regen on a fight to fight basis). I capped the gear at 219+ because anything lower than that will generally not have enough stats to offset the amount of spellpower given by the higher level items.

    Shoulder - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47923
Cape - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=48671 http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44005 and some pvp items
    Wrist - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47585
    Hands - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47235
    Chest - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47603 or http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45272
    Legs - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47186
Ring - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45168 and some pvp gear
    Weapon - http://www.wowhead.com/?item=46017 or http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47193 or http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47941 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=48709

Assuming that we are needing to keep our 4 piece set bonus (T8 or 9 doesn't matter), we would have to chose which of these items would be best to use. The answer here is Merlin's Robe, so we can cross the legs, gloves, and shoulders off the previous list. All of the best healer weapons (case in point Val'anyr) already do not have spirit on them, so lets cross those off the list too. This leaves 5 items that are able to be traded out, total.

Availability: The cape is a tribute run reward, so most people right now aren't going to have access to that one at this time. If you don't already have the cloak from Sarth, then good luck with getting it since I doubt most guilds are continuing to run Sarth 2D+. The chest and bracers require crusader orbs, expensive to buy, have to compete with other guildies for drops, or spend badges on them. Not impossible, but at the same time not easy to do. The necklace is a Twin Val'kir drop, so at this point you will be competing against DPS casters.

That basically leaves the ring that is fairly easy to get your hands on at this point. So going back to the top of my post, I would much rather balance my mana regen needs through trinket changes considering the amount of available non-spirit gear out there. If you can manage to score all of the items on the above list then more power to you, however I doubt that most people are going to be able to do that on a whim or through off-set items quickly.

MP5 gains/losses: Equipping the chest, cape, bracers, ring, and necklace would put me at ~205 MP5 while casting (self buffed in tree form). A net loss of ~150 MP5, which i could mostly soak up by changing out trinkets that I have had in my bags for ages. I believe that I could continue to heal exactly the same as i do now with a minimum of 300 MP5 while casting. I would have to make more use of my innervate, but I could do it. So if I had all of the above items, I would definitely look into using the MP5 meta gem.

Lastly, all of this is very academic. All of this ultimately boils down to your choice of meta gem (MP5 vs SP). If you have the off-set gear to be able to switch into, then you have a strong case for the MP5 meta gem. However, I claim that most people aren't going to have ready access to most of these items in which case the SP meta gem + trinket swapping is a superior choice.
