    Warlock Resiliance: Why Bother?

Hi! Well here goes my first post....

Having slowly worked on my PVP gear, I have now made it to around 860+ Resiliance and I must admit on occasion I find that it does help, but only in large BG's when you can stay alive a few more seconds untill that heal comes or someone finally gets that rogue off my back.

I still find in situations where there is no one to save my clothie ass, all the extra resiliance just alows me to watch my self get saped and ganked a few more seconds or oom against a class that can cast a heal faster than I can cast fear.

Dont get me wrong this isn't a QQ, I think destruction warlocks are in a good possition at the moment in PVP. However
I am considering ditching the PVP gear and go with some old PVE Teir gear for the extra spellpower and crit. With the new epic gems I could still get some resiliance or spell penetration if needed.

    My question is:

Has resiliance improved your PVP experience and how?

Resilience this low won't help that much. After 800 you'll start seeing the difference in battlegrounds.

    Re: Warlock Resiliance: Why Bother?

Way back in S3, I noticed myself living through more battles at 5% resilience and really noticed my survival at 10%.

Same thing now. Basically, resilience is there not to make you live longer, but to make you live long enough. 1v1, this is almost never long enough to win because then it makes warlocks even more powerful in arenas, as they would require less attention by a healer. But it is long enough to get another CC off or let your healer hit you or tab dot a few more people.

I like it, but I wish there was another way to play so that I don't need two gear sets.

    Living through Kidney shot anyone?
Your comments are duly noted and ignored.

Resilience is the only reason I have any survivibility against melee classes in PVP. I can now live through a kidney shot occasionally which without some figure over 800 would not happen. I agree that resilience is simply an attempt to fix the lack of balance, but it is unfair that while rogues can continue to pvp sucessfully in pve gear due to superior escape, and defensive mechanisms - we are still forced to stack stamina and resilience at the expense of other stats to survive.

As a warlock sitting around 950-1150 Resilience, I can definitely feel the difference in BGs with this amount of resilience, I actually kill rogues now! (The bad ones) But ofc, I have 2960 SP Self buffed aswell, critting 10K on good geared players makes a big difference.

From the OP and the responses I guess you're all talking about BG's and not Arenas. It's not after you start getting 25khp and 900+ resilliance you'll survive a melee being on you(with equal gear), so that's correct.

In arenas however it's a huge help. I've been sitting on 1150 as Affliction and going with 950 as Destruction at the moment and you must really be able to tank a DK/Warrior for quite some time to be useful, hence you need this amount of resilliance. With the new resilliance changes I wouldn't say I crit for 10k anymore, far from it actually. If I meet people with full furious+ and my 2.8ksp I never get above 7k with a conflag, times have truelly changed. Of course I do get a few 10k+'ers here and there, but then you know their gear is fail.

    Re: Warlock Resiliance: Why Bother?

Ive found resilience incredibly useful! But then to be fair ive specced in such a way that compliments resilience. Ever since i started levelling through pvp i opted for a survival build incorporating Destro to Molten Skin, Demo to Master Demonologist and then Affliction to Siphon Life with the remaining points in affliction to boost Corruption damage as much as possible (for healing from Siphon Life). I was a warlock tank using my voidwalker! When i hit 80, resilience started to hurt healing done through corruption as well as healing reduction effects so i opted for a slightly different spec.....

Demo to Master Demonologist and then Destro to Shadowfury (picking up all the survival talents along the way)

    So with this spec i get (for physical);

-6% (Molten Skin), -10% (Master Demonologist VW), -25% (Demon Armour), -25% (Soul Link (Glyphed)), -16.5% (Resilience all), -33% (Resilience Crit)

I think i calculated all that to reduce a physical crit by about 73%! Might be wrong but its almost like making the armour cap (75%?)!

As for magical it would be even more with the Fel Puppy out and a Nether Protection proc!!

Unusual i know, but it works for me and its fun. Rogues are a joke for me, so much so, that i often entice a rogue to attack me!

Warning though! Dont expect to take this spec and pew pew people to death, you wont.

And I'm guessing you never kill anyone, ever.
Hide behind a little Bloodelf Paladin?!? Ridiculous! Make way for the Beef of Light! I will shield you, little ones, and should I fall, remember that I taste amazing with Mustard.

Of course it has, but it's not really big thing when You could just spec Destruction and 3 shot people.
