Change to Predatory Strikes in 3.2.2

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've looked a little since the patch hit, and not seen any discussion at all on the new change to Predatory Strikes.

"# Predatory Strikes: This talent now also causes the druid’s finishing moves to provide a 7/13/20% chance per combo point to make the next Nature spell with a cast time below 10 seconds instant cast."
Anything interesting to note about it? I assume it's a pure DPS increase to cast Wrath after every finisher. I'm pulling about 2.7k DPS self-buffed on the boss-level training dummy (I forget its exact name) doing this. (Armory: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...+Blade&n=Jurin)

Does energy regen while out of form? I have noticed somewhat smoother use of abilities, but I haven't looked into it.

Anyway, what do other druids think?

Once you get your rotation/gear up, shifting out to waste 3 GCD's for a wrath will not be worth it at all. It's supposed to be a feral pvp buff for insta cyclones/healing touches/regrowths and roots.

it only has one practical use and that is to use an instant br

But obviously the op doesnt know much of feral dps considering its tight and intensive rotation

Definately a buff for PvP, for one your spell casts will not hit for much and wasting that many GCDs on it would be pointless. It is going to be very useful in PvP for Heals/Cyclones/Roots and that is the only use i can see for it.

Lol never thought of instant Brez but the cast is so short doesnt matter too much.

I will admit, my knowledge of feral DPS is pretty low, I leveled the character to 80, went resto, raided for a few weeks, and decided I preferred pally heals. I was actually just reading over the sticky a few minutes ago and face-palming over my gems.

Anyway, it's a bit disappointing to find out it's not too viable. Perhaps the "smoothness" I'm finding is because I'm usually very energy-starved, and it gives me something else to hit while waiting. I just tested for myself and noted energy does regen out of form, but only to a max of 60 (due to only 3 points in Furor).

Anything I can do about feeling so energy-starved?

In a feral spec with no spellpower, your wraths hit for.. what, 2.000 damage? It can hardly be much more than that. You will lose at least 2 GCDs by doing this (cancelaura to get rid of the form and instant cast wrath, then a GCD to switch back to cat form) so that means that you are doing 1k DPS in those two seconds. How much do you reckon your white melee swings do in two seconds, plus any combo move you might do after your finisher. Its not worth it.

It is, however, pretty awesome for pvp - an instant healing touch can save your little kitty butt.

lol... seriously, of all of the possible uses for this new spell that is definitely the last one that i would have come up with.
    70 Warlock - The Scryers
    80 Hunter - Gorefiend
    80 Druid - Gorefiend
    80 Death knight - Gorefiend
    80 Shaman - Gorefiend
    80 Mage - Gorefiend

Clearly Druids need a 6 second Pyroblast/Soulfire type damage spell.

i though of it at first but it was quicly shown that it wasnt worth it, now we just need "fun talents" in CC to allow to cast certain spells in cat or bear ^^

We were talking about my feral kitty buddy last night, but we both agreed that its just not worth it. To make the shifting out viable, you should have both ILotP (for mana regen, while you are in feral form) and 5/5 Furor (for max energy, when you shift back info feral form). Now, the fact is, that no PvE kitty will have those. You have to drop points, either from Feral Instincts, Imp. Mangle, or Infected Wounds. All three talents worth more then a shiftout Starfire, or a Wrath. Tbh, we dont even need that new feature for an instant shiftout attack, since we have Moonfire. We could do the same for ages, but its just not worth it.

Conclusion. Its a PvP buff for ferals. Period.

Thats one of the most useless talents for Kitty DPS, and not to pop your bubble, but Starfire is Arcane, which means, no instant cast for you.
