    Righteous Fury +Pve Healing...

Ok does righteous fury as a holy pally cause threat when you heal? Due to it saying "Increases the threat generated by your Holy spells by 80%." and as a holy pally you cast holy spells.

Sorry if this has been asked or what im working on a Holy/prot build and wanted to get Imp righteous fury for the 6% less dmg.

It will increase your threat by 80% with RF active, as you assumed. Not enough to pull threat off of a good tank, but it will definately increase your threat.

Not to be picky, but it increases all threat by 43% and Threat from Holy spells by 80%.

In BT we used to do one of the bosses by having a Lock LT and our Prot paladin use HL on him to generate good TPS.

    Re: Righteous Fury +Pve Healing...

Answered already but yes, it increases threat.

In 5 mans there's no real need to use it, beacon yourself and heal others.

In 10 and 25's (with minimal/no adds), I use it because as a healer I'm last on the totem poll for heals and since I'm beaconing one tank while healing the other, due to simple priority and "oh shit" moments happen and I lose sight of my health. It's saved my neck a couple of times, i.e. catching myself at 3% health or so, knowing that had I had RF turned off, I'd be dead.

Some of the guildies have rolled tank alts, I also use RF and generous spamming of HL to push them, though of course with Salv and bubble ready to go.

I imagine you're using a 51/20/0 spec or at least thinking about it? I miss the extra crit from 51/0/20 but due to a lack of paladins we need the extra dmg reduction, so it looks like I'm stuck in the spec for awhile.

You shouldn't need that 6% Dmg Reduction, otherwise something is wrong.

Need no. But everything helps. Also helps bring loose adds to you instead of the cloth healer, and divine sac builds have it anyway, so why not?

Even without the 6% damage reduction, just plain healing with RF on is more of a benefit than a detriment in raids.

All dmg reduction is welcome. There is no need to choose betwen not having it when you can have.

Some tanks might have problems with your threat, but that is just because they are bad. If you turn off RF and a Holy Priest uses a powerful CoH, he will agro. You have 25k armor, shield wall, bubble and dmg reduction talents, he has 5k armor.

Without RF up Paladins cause half the threat of other healing classes. Pally healing threat with RF up is: Healing * .5 * .5 * 1.8, or Healing * .45. Which means with RF up you cause 5% less threat than other healers. If you pull threat because you have RF up... your tank sucks.

Whoa that math is so wrong.
50% vs 45% is a 10% difference not a 5% difference and you're missing the fact that RF increases the threat by another 100/70. But yes, threat should not be an issue.

Why not? Every little bit of damage reduction that comes for free helps against heavy raid dmg bosses. (Faction Champs + Twins + Anub). It's not "needed" to kill a boss but Flasks'n'Stuff are not "needed" either.

Like said already, RF in combo with some RNG adds, will make it more obvious for the tanks that any adds not controlled will run to a holydin with RF active. We have used it several times in terms of RNG adds that spawns from different locations.
If its called Tourist season, why can't I shoot at them?

Which is the most useful way to employ RF.
E.g. we use it on Anub'arak (heroic) P3. When we get the adds, they'll go for the holy paladin, which makes them a) predictable, b) easier to pick. Not to count we usually have the said paladin pop Bubble + DS the very moment the offtank has merely taunted the adds off him (which usually avoids the paladin getting smashed if the tank misses something).

A lot of people had this idea it did since it says holy spells back then also, wondering if it in fact changed or the myth still lives. Pretty funny if it's still the myth.
well if you read the post over you its not a myth

Solo healed patchwerk 25-man last week.

My agro was so high that I was second on threat. It wasn't a issue because I was at range, but it does work.

5% less threat per point healed.

That's where the 'myth' of RF comes from, it's actually a misunderstanding. Paladin healing produces less threat as a means to counter what happened in games like EverQuest where people would heal-tank. You also need to consider how healing threat is tabulated, since it's actually only 45% threat against single mobs. You then need to divide that by every other mob with a threat table that the Paladin is on. In a 5 pull a 16k heal produces just over 1.4k threat on each target. Now compare to any tanks AOE abilities... yeah, bad, bad tanks if they lose aggro to you due to RF healing. Now, if you drop a Holy Shock mid pull on an off-target, that might be a problem. :P

    Re: Righteous Fury +Pve Healing...

back when sarth 3d 25 man was hard, we had one holy pally with rf up healing offtanks so he would draw all whelps and adds to one spot for add tank to pick up. saved a lot of priest lives.

yogg 25 when we first started, we had one with rf so if add got free, he hit a plate not a cloth healer as well. and tanks knew who to taunt off.

i find that less damage is less damage, so run it. saving a clothie healer, even better. Only time i drop it is in 10 man heroic toc on anub. in phase 3 with 2 healers i get up to like 10k hps and i actually start pulling adds off the add tank.
