[Help Me!] The "Fix My DPS" Thread (Read first post before posting)

Hai guise! Just got back into raiding and did my first 10 man today. I know Gara'jal is not the ideal fight for logs and there are a lot of other factors, but I wanted to see what feedback I can get. I feel like I'm a little low. Simulationcraft says I should be about 65k and I'm doing ~45-42k and I don't know how close it should be. Here's our kill.

Hey folks, destro here! While I know that Destro isn't simming as high as affliction, nor as easy to be beast at, I'd like some additional eyes here on my guild's attempts to get a better idea of what I may be overlooking.

We have 16 attempts on Stone Guard H25 that are also available for scrutiny. I'm just not seeing how I go from 80k on Emperor 25 to 40-60k here.

Any and all ideas would be wonderfully received.

Without looking too in detail at your personal DPS, I noticed your entire raid is extremely low for this boss. This is most likely caused by lack of stacks on the damage buff from the tiles. We personally shot for 125+ during the beginning to give tanks time to situate their bosses and to stack with early lust. After that we get a minimum of 100 after the 75 and 40% tile wipe.

Other than that, just make sure immo is up as close to 100% on the two mobs that are stacked as possible. Those two points alone should yield a decent increase in DPS. I have yet to play destro this xpac but I know as demo I believe I ended at 160k on that fight, with our destro lock somewhere around 125k.

I need some help with my dps. I'm a destro, but i ve just a lil dps on these bosses. Can you suggest me some advices, like reforging or doing something wrong on fights?
I' ve checked already some locks, but i dont know whats different, some have more mastery, some have more crits, some have more haste. Especially on Elegon, even though those were wipes, i just barely got 100k dps but mainly 50-60k.

I know the one thing we were told was to stay alive and not focus so much on DPS, so I did a bit of wandering around to avoid shit. I think personally I could be dotting more than just the two main mobs with corruption/agony, as well as my haunts being really low. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

We always noticed that our Warlock wasn't in the upper DPS ranks, but since we are attempting Elegon now, I figured I should somehow help him improve his DPS. I now know that destruction is not the best raiding-specc, but I was wondering if there are any major mistakes, as there should be more damage coming from his gear. One additional problem with him is is, that he dies much more often than other people, so it's hard to find a good WoL section. But I decided for the following three:

I know too little about Destro to comment, but you can at least give him the tip that Tailoring gives a pretty much free leg enchant, so he shouldn't waste his gold or resources on using the Spellthread made with Imperial Silk.

EDIT: Just something I noticed, but he seems to have only used Dark Soul once. He should use that every time he can and line up embers to launch Chaos Bolts then. That alone should push his DPS up a bit.

EDIT 2: And another rather basic thing: He seems to have used Conflagrate 20 times in the fight, with a 12 second cooldown that would mean 240 seconds worth of Conflagrate, while the fight lasted for 400+ seconds. In other words he's not using conflagrate on cooldown, meaning he's pushing out lots of slow Incinerates + losing damage from Conflag itsself.

Slikless, your warlock buddy really needs some help. Just took a quick look at the Feng parse and his immolate uptime was 37.1%, he only cast conflagrate 20 times when he should have been able to get off 36 or so, he only used Dark Soul 1 time, he did almost 2.5mil friendly fire damage from the arcane resonance debuff, and he tried to fear the boss?

He needs to learn the basics of how to play a warlock before anyone can give him some more in depth help

EDIT: he also has a 20 haste / 20 hit gem in his boots.

Hey all. Just swapped my main to a warlock for MOP after playing ret for over 2 expansions. I'm doing ok dps but i really feel i should be pulling more than i actually am. Were only in normals at the moment and not very far in but i think my biggest problem is the execute phase. I use SB:SS to refresh all dots and try to keep haunt up and drain soul, but i really dont know when to break the channel and use excess shards or not. Heres out feng kill last night

Well you are certainly not doing anything obvious wrong, you are looking fine. Probably just a question of learning to make the most of your enchant/trinket procs and use those to maximise your dps to another degree.

About the execute, only good way to know when to break channel is to get a good castbar addon. I use gnosis, and it works for me, with perfect tick count, but I've heard people say it was inaccurate for them, so, try it and check for yourself, I guess.

Hey guys. I've been playing a warlock for many years, but recently, I have noticed my dps is not at the level that I believe it should be. Last night during raid, I was getting beaten by another demo lock with slightly worse gear. After looking at the logs, I noticed that my soul fire damage was nowhere near as high as his, so that might be part of the reason. I was wondering if there are any other obvious mistakes that I can fix to help out my dps. Also, I noticed is that the other lock is going with a mastery-heavy build while I am going more haste, so reforging choices may have a large impact. Any help would be appreciated.

hey. really not happy with my dps at the minute after switching mains to a lock for this tier. my dpsas affli sucks something awful, as demo it is better but still not where i think it should be. got logs for spirit kings kill as affli and elegon wipes as both demo and affli. (pls ignore the last 3 or 4 pulls on elegon, i was sat for one of them and was not using molten core procs in an attempt to save them for the sparks so my dps is even worse than usual)

looking for help with my gearing (although i sim my char regularly so think thats fine) and rotation.

I have my last week log from Elegon (10 N) and i did 120k dps.I could have done better becouse i forgot to start using drian soul at 25%.I could probably have done 130k.

There are 2 things i would like to know.How the hell the first lock is doing 180k dps i'm 60k behind.

And how can i get better at Will of emperors too.I did around 65k but its not even close to the top 200.
I really wanna start getting ranked but i still dont have a clue whats im doing wrong.

So i dug through the log a little bit, your dot time are good, Your drain time was bad ( as you pointed out)
The big difference you are going to see on the top log rank and you is most certainly gear, you're mastery is still pretty low considering, you can look into dumping some of that haste into mastery, You really only need 4198 haste at this point.

First I would suggest either leveling helpful professions or leveling your professions at all. Tailoring might be a wise choice so you can craft your own chest.
Next I would hop on that wonderful daily grind so you can purchase the VP items, there are many upgrades there.
If you have some spare gold or an inscriptionist laying around, the DMF trinket is also a great choice.
You can also probably afford to go a little more under hit cap in order to stack more mastery, but I would do a sim on yourself to verify that.

Took a quick look at your logs and armory, You are not doing anything glaringly wrong as far as your uptimes/rotation goes.
You can do a little work with your gemming/reforging. Plugged you into wowreforge.com and you can get about 1k more mastery squeezed out by just changing things around a bit. I would suggest doing a sim on your character and plugging those stat weights in, if you are not sure how do it http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...imulationCraft is a great guide. Figure this might be the best place to post.

So when I started gearing pre-raid I was forging ( and itemising) for Haste and it was going well. An upward trend in my DPS as each new item came. In full heroic blues through dungeons I was breaking 70k DPS and was very happy.

I then started to do more frequent sims ( iterations of ten thousand) and also noticed over on Sparkplugzz thread, how he found when he hit 10% Haste, Mastery came out ahead. So I messed with Simcraft and it proved the same for me.

So off I went and now I sit comfortably at 15% hit and 10% haste, and have done for the last two weeks. However I've noticed a massive drop in DPS. It is a struggle to break 50k DPS on occasions, even though I've gone and upgraded alot of my gear. My mechanics havn't changed and I'm comfortable with the class and what to do.

I went back to Sparkz and asked had he noticed any difference, to which he hadn't, but did note that it appears there was something changed over the course of a week. Haste was back scaling ahead of Mastery, but a new cap of Haste brought Mastery back ahead.

It is worth noting in terms of numbers/scaling, we are talking about .01 , but for me, its translating into a pretty big DPS difference.

Unfortunately I dont have screenshots or logs to hand, but I know myself from review its not mechanical. I keep my DOT uptime over 96% ( which could be better, but am happy enough with) but my main concern is that with no mechanical chagne (if anything I'm more familiar with the spec now) I'm having a massive drop off
