[Help Me!] The "Fix My DPS" Thread (Read first post before posting)

Thanks guys for the advice last time, though I am still having issues with my dps. I am still behind the other warlock who has a lower ilevel then me and I am not sure how to get the numbers I should be getting.

I think I am still missing a few recasts of sb:ss at the start and the end of a proc, but I am not sure if that explains the large dps difference.

Your mage is doing less dps than a tank and you're 3 healing. 2 heal it and tell the mage to pick it up.

hope you can help me out. only been doing LFR so far since I don't have the time, but my DPS is way lower than it should be- with 473 ilvl I'm doing around 60k on empress while watching locks with about the same ilvl as I am doing 65-80(yes, we're both destro). I time procs perfectly I think and only use embers with procs while keeping Immolate up and barely stop casting because of KC. will let you see for yourself.

If you are Destro it is unwise to be below hitcap like you seem to be, that only works for Affli. I'm pretty sure that's not where the difference comes from as a whole, but missing a Chaos Bolt or Shadowburn this way is VERY costly of course.

I just got the lfr Jin'ya Orb of the Waterspeaker and I'm trying to determine if it would be better than my current main hand/off hand set up (amber saber of the Klaxxi'vess/inscribed Jade fan). I'm an affliction raider only and the difference in the stats with Jin'ya would be: Int -32, spell power +1056, haste +476, mastery -329, crit +402, hit -377. There doesn't seem to be any set values for the stats, esp hit, or mastery/haste, so I'm a little lost on how to interpret the numbers.

That's the only number you have to interpret. The staff is much better than your MH/OH even without the gem inside.

Ok, I am perplexed so I figured I would post here and see if maybe one of you guys can help.

I recently upgraded from Bottle of Potent Potables/Melted Hypnotic Blade (463 - both upgraded to 471), to Loshan, Terror Incarnate (483) and Inscribed Jade Fan (476). With the upgrades I expected a substantial DPS increase. However my DPS didn't even go up, it actually went down. I know that my dps will fluctuate somewhat so I really cant count 1 parse, however I didn't expect my dps to remain essentially the same adding almost 1k spell power. So I figure I must be doing something wrong.

Simcraft says I should be pulling about 89k with my current gear on a standstill fight, I want to be able to hit at least 75-80k in LFR on Gara'jal patchwerking it. I know in a 10 man I probably wont even come close to that because of raid comp issues, and I am fine with that, however I have to be doing something wrong if I can't break 80k standing still.

Hi. I'm having problem with Garalon.. my DPS is usually pretty low and I really have no idea how to improve it. I have been going through posts trying to find different ways to approach the encounter and i've tried several tactics but.. I'm still doing pretty poorly. I am assigned to kite pheromones I'm 5th in the rotation in our 25 man.

On this fight I've tried using KJC & I've tried used ACV. I stopped using KJC I think because the movement speed decrease slowed me down to what felt like a crawl and I seem to need to move a lot. What your opinion on this?

Basically what i've been doing on the fight is.. I pre pot and coe > sb:ss on to garalon > by this time I am usually at the 1st leg circle so I sb:ss on to that leg then use MG til it is almost down and then start heading over to the next leg circle... while i'm running I refresh dots on garalon and then at the circle I sb:ss on to the leg and dps it.. by this time the next leg is at like 1/2 health so I dot it and the go back to Garalon.. for the rest of the fight while I'm not kiting.. i'm making judgment calls on wether or not to run to the leg circle if it's too far away.. i'm also trying to dot the legs and body as much as possible.. just something is getting lost here.

Hi. I'm having problem with Garalon.. my DPS is usually pretty low and I really have no idea how to improve it.

You do need to move a lot, but you do not need to move fast in this fight. Take KJC, it's much better than 100k damage from ACV. Compared to my logs (108k in 10man, kiting, 490ilvl), you have two times less Haunts, lower dot uptime, Agony doing less damage than Corruption, less Drain Soul and MG, while having a bit more damage done on legs.
Put boss in focus frame so you know when dots need updating. Don't dot legs unless you are in the circle. If one spawns near you - go kill it, if not - treat this fight as single target. Can't think of anything else, maybe go for legs every time your cooldown are up?

Intellect+mastery for red sockets, mastery for yellow, hit+mastery for blue. Try to get 4720 haste from reforging.

quick question regarding Simcraft. I've just started using it, toyed a bit with my gems/reforges, armory gets updated, but when I import my character it doesn't seem to copy the updated stats. for instance, I've reached the 4717 haste cap after changing some reforges, but on the import sheet I still have 4600ish haste and the other stats are different too. am I doing something wrong?

Hi. I'm having problem with Garalon.. my DPS is usually pretty low and I really have no idea how to improve it.

No idea if what I do is perfectly optimal, but I did 99691.7 dps(e) on our last kill by dotting legs as they spawned but single targeting garalon (since we try to give melee maximum uptime on legs by having ranged mostly single target the boss).

Dots update dynamically with debuffs, so don't be afraid to dot a leg before you're in the circle, then moving into it, likewise standing in the circle while MGing the boss also at least gives your dots on the leg the buff. KJC I'd consider mandatory for garalon.

Fromn what I can tell from the logs, your DPS went up quite a bit in the normal raids, just the LFR fight was same DPS. I doubt there's something wrong with your gear setup that you'd be just as effective with a lesser weapon. Call the LFR one a fluke due to bad RNG. I mean for instance you missed 2 Haunts more in the second parse, that's going to hurt you.

About the not meeting SimC levels of awesome, well, I think very few people do. We can't react to everything perfectly and without thinking, and especially in something as a real raid compared to Simcraft there's going to be oversights/bad decisions in the heat of the moment. I think you would be better off striving to beat your own personal marks then to chastize yourself over not meeting SimC levels.

SimCraft modelling for Affli locks is kinda weird as well. Like there's no signs of it reacting to procs (which you have an insane uptime of this tier) or how to actually play during movement. I know I'm playing very differently than how SimCraft suggests I should play and it makes my numbers different as well. Just look at SimCraft DPS results as something to get an idea about how much you should be able to push. It's mainly a tool to find out how to treat your gear when it comes to what pieces to pick and how to gem/reforge said pieces.

Hey all, just looking for some input, mainly trying to maximize what I'm able to do, out ill guild is still struggling in MV so I'm running a lot of LFR for gear, anyway I am still learning to SimC and trying to understand the stat scaling as what I "have" or what I "should" have? I use refogenator. As a base to go off of, but I have been playing with the 4198/4717 haste caps and still feel like my dps is sub-par, anyone more knowledgeable than I able to takeaway quick look for me? Armory is : Tohkra on Alexstraza US, system won't let me post links yet. :/ I am mainly looking here for help I guess with what reformers to do with LFR gear...

I'm either last or close to last. I feel like I should(and I need to be) doing more damage but something is !@#$ing amiss and I just can't see it. I need to learn the fights from my pov tad better and my gear is off from everyone else's, but I know I can do more and I should be doing more.

Any help is appreciated, and the logs go back a little.

We try'd Lei Shi yesterday around 20 times.
In around 17 of this trys I have around 125k DPS, but I think there is much more possible...

Problems / Questions I have at the moment:

1) Start-rotation.
At the moment I use this, please tell me if it's up to date:
1 seconds bore pull: Prepot + Dark Soul + SS:SB
Pull:
1) activate DG
2) SS:SS
3) Haunt
4) 2-3 times full MG, up to all procs are there (Jade Spirit, 2 Trinkets, Lightweave) but not to late to miss the end of prepot and DS
5) recast all dots with SS:SB and SS:SS and a additional haunt
(Now all dots have the most possible power?!)
6) Cast MG until first buff (UA) kills the "Start-Rotation" and beginn the normal rotation.

That means I don't recast all buffs at the end of Procs / DS to have the longest possible time of dots, but with this I have an extream high burst damage.
Please leave me a feedback to this.

2) Doomguard

Whats the actual best way to use doomguard now?
At the begin of a fight for most procs + prepot + dark soul?
At the end becoude of the 20% burst?
Or whenever it is good in the middle of the fight (e.g. in Lei Shi hero you will have 80 to 120% damage stack)?
Is Doomguard benefit from Timewarp and such things?

The most important aspect about getting high dps #s for a standstill fight, is a properly timed bloodlust. Prepot -> Pull -> Pet -> All DPS CDs -> Bloodlust -> Start DPSing. Bloodlust should go off approx. 1s after the pull. If your raid saves bloodlust for the last 20-30%, then you are losing massive amounts of DPS.

Bring a shaman or mage friend to LFR with you, and tell them to lust 1s after the pull.

Doomguard is either bugged or intentionally only ever giving you 17 bolt casts, never more, never less. So it doesn't get any effect from TW and is thus best used in the last minute of the fight (unless you need the damage at another time) so that you take full advantage of him and the bonus under 20%.
