Leatrix Latency Fix addon for WoW

Just another Leatrix user, saying yes it halves your latency, and if you're too lazy to do the Registry changes on your own (like me) or unsure of how to do the registry change, this fix makes it really easy.

Plus it also has an uninstaller, should you have conflicts with other applications that do not benefit from the new protocol.

For novices, and the lazy's, it's all good.

For actual numbers, i would usually hover around 200ms on my wireless, and now i'm usually anywhere from 55ms to 125ms.

Technically, it's not an add-on.

This actually adds a line to your Windows Registry that handles the packet exchange rate between your computer and wow servers. It's basically freeing the communication exhange rate, so your computer and the server are talking to each other faster.

I used the GFX addon he has, but like I said it didn't really do much for my framerate. Are you aware of any other ways I can lower my frame rate?

Frame rate is the rate at which your computer renders images on the screen. Low frame rate is a sign of an over worked video card, whether it is on board or after market. Either way, the only fix is to get a new video card that can handle the work load. If you just play wow, many budget cards in the $40-60 price range will play wow like a champ, even if you can't really get a lot of other performance from them.

My video card is a geforce 9500gt and it has never had any issues playing wow. I get anywhere from 30-60 fps in cities and raids, up to 185 fps in old azeroth depending on where I am questing.


Many of the UI options you find in wow dramatically increase the amount of work your video card needs to do and will increase your frame rate if you are experiencing low FPS.

Remember, lag is not frame rate. Lag has to do solely with the time it takes for your computer to communicate to the host server, and the only time lag can affect fps (it normally shouldn't) is when your computer is already having a problem in one or more areas and your machine isn't capable of keeping up its normal frame rate.

At that point I would suggest taking steps to identify any over heating that may be going on, and I would work to solve that issue before chalking it up to lag.

I have had this installed for the last 6 months or so. Before I got it my normal latency was around 600-650 (I'm European playing on US server), after it is around 350-400. I don't know that I see a HUGE change in the way the game itself feels but it is nice to not have red latency all day every day.

Don't need an addon to do this. I've done the same thing with no addon.

1) Determine your IP (ipconfig or similar)
2) Run Regedit
3) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces
4) Determine which interface is for your IP. The correct interface will have a DhcpIPAddress set to your current IP.
5) Right-click on the interface and select New->DWORD
6) Set the name to TcpAckFrequency (case sensitive)
7) Set to a decimal value of "1"
8) Restart your computer

Correct that you can do it manually, but I would not suggest directly editing the registry to anyone but a very small minority due to the potential to royally screw things up.
The script will do just that for you, provide an uninstall or revert option and do so without any need to touch, or even know of the registry.

I used this on my machine and my latency was cut down around to 60-40% of what it used to be. I used to be around 300-350ms now it's around 150-200ms. I recommend it.

Xorkrik, that's a proxy server system. This is just a registry edit that has impressive effects on latency.

Dunno if that's gonna be a free service, but the Leatrix registry edit dropped my ping by a good 100-150 on average.

When I'm leveling an alt I usually want to put some music on , can I have music on with this addon without making the music to lagg?

I've used this for a while, dropped my latency by about 30% instantly (to around 80ms) and doesn't affect anything else (ie music, porn etc..)

eoopo, if your music doesn't lag now, this fix won't affect it.

The music is likely played from the client, not streamed in any way.
So it should not be affected.
This instead makes adjustments to how acknowledgement behaves when sending/receiving data.
