Hi, we just recently progressed 3/5 ToGC and now working on Twins on 25 Man Heroic.

I was just curious to hear what other people do as far as spreading out the soakers for orbs.

Are the placed in certain areas depending what color you're soaking.

A pattern of Black, White, Black, White, etc?

Please help with some tips and suggestions.

Not a dps race? Maybe not for the entire fight, but when one of those bosses cast the Twins Pact, trust me you wanna blow every cooldown you got to get it down, especially if you need to switch color first or just don't bother switching but do less dps cause you didn't switch. You do know they heal for 50% hp if you don't break the shield right?

Way we do it is to have basically the full raid positioned at the same point, except 4 soakers. The raid takes the black essence and puts itself next to the white portal while the 4 soakers take white and soak any white orbs that get close to the raid and let the black ones hit. People need to be quick to switch if the dark twin casts pact but that isnt really a problem. After a switch we basically swap essences, raid moves to the dark portal with light essence, soakers take dark.

We tank both valkyrs together at the light essence thing in the back. Then all dps and healers get the dark essence and stack on top of each other between the bosses and in range to click for the light essence for when the dark guy (i don't remember names very well) casts twin's pact. We got three people with light essence picking up white orbs (mages or shadow priests for shields and dispersion) and the tanks soaking the damage from white orbs coming from the other side (we tank them pretty close to the wall). We leave the black orbs alone so they float into the group with dark essence so all dps gets empowered.
You just have to make sure everyone switches very fast when the dark twin casts twin's pact. And you probably have to get used to avoiding and picking up orbs at the beginning. People outside our "dps group" who pick up white orbs almost don't dps at all. They just focus on the orbs.

But there are many tactics for this fight.

What we do is tank both Twins near the gate where we enter, have 2 spriests and 3 mages stand there with white aura, we have 2 hunter soakers with white aura, and the rest of the raid is black aura. The soakers prevent white balls from hitting the raid. 3 seconds before a special ability the dark aura dps switch target to make sure we can burst down the black shield if it comes. We never change color and we don't move, just use GS / DS or any other healer cooldowns to survive a light vortex, if the dark vortex comes the mages must iceblock and the spriests can disperse.

Elanthari is absolutely correct and it's key to defeating twins on Hard mode. This fight is NOT a DPS race and once your DPS horny players realise this you will be on Anub. The primary concern is orbs, orbs, orbs! As soon as they spawn, your DPS, particularly ranged should be focusing on nothing but orbs until the room looks pretty safe, then it's back to DPSing your assigned twin.

The only point in this fight where it's a DPS race is as soon as Twin's Pact is up.

You're making this harder on yourself. Serp89's brute force strategy works very well. With that, they should be dead after around 5-6 special abilities. They are tanked close together so the other twin gets hit by abilities like blade flurry.

Light vortex: heals, DS, CoS
Dark vortex: ice block, mages switch to dark if raid gets a second one
Light pact: can easily beat it
Dark pact: heroism, pots/trinkets/cds if raid gets a second one

There are as many strats for this fight as there are guilds doing it. Just look at a bunch of videos and find the one that fits the style of your guild the best.

Since our firstkill we used the following tactic:

All melees black essence and near the upper right portal. There the two bosses are tanked. Casters are all white and near the bottom right portal. Almost all healers collect "hostile" orbs and 2-3 dedicated ranged DPS.

That's it. Casters switch essence for the shield, melees usually don't. Works so far for us, but there are quite alot of good tactis.
