horn of winter, any dk (or shaman?) can bring, whilst BoSanc is pretty good and prot pally specific.

imo ardent defender > vamp blood for a pug, hell leet oh shi mechanism in comparison.

This thread has gone on long enough, there are a lot of really good dk main tanks out there for great guilds, just like the same can be said for pallies. Learn to play your class dont complain about mine.

There are good tanks and bad tanks just like DPS and healers. I don't think that you can really compare the classes like for like really.

My prot pally is always in demand and seems to do all the right things, but get a bad healer in the group and I go down pretty easily :-\ I have seen some excellent DK tanks/ druid tanks and warrior tanks, but also some really well geared but terrible ones. With gear being thrown at people now I guess a lot of DPS have taken tanking as a second spec and given it a go.

You need to learn how to tank, it's easy if the mob is bashing away at you, the skill comes when someone else screws up and you need to save the raid from the loose mobs (ony whelps etc) or if that imba mage doesn't manage threat and pulls a mob off the warrior/DK/druid off-tank (pretty much impossible to take it from a pally ;D )

What this boils down to is simple:

If the tank dies it is always the healers fault
If the tank loses agro it's always the DPS fault
If the tank misses a stray mob its lag
If you don't get invited to a raid it's because the raid leader is biased against your class

We hear all the time people say "Learn to play", but maybe it should be learn to play to the strengths of your class, don't try to learn to play like a pally if you are a DK.

The guy was a tool. If he wants to hang around for 30 minutes when there is a perfectly well equipped DK tank asking for spot then feck him.

Any group for Ony10 that says "We NEED two paladins for buffs" is a group I want absolutely no part of, anyway.

Just find a PuG that isn't a gaggle of failures.

Disc priests can also bring the raidwide 3% damage mitigation buff, and any other pally can provide kings to make up for the str and stam part of Sanct.

i guess pallies are the best tanks so that's why i kept being sat for the warrior... thankfully he left the guild so im tanking now.

you have people who are biased towards all tanking classes no matter what. people still think warriors are the ONLY tanking class and the others are just hybrids of them. some people think druids are still the best cus of their insane mana pool. people think DKs are the best cus of the amount of cooldowns they can get.

yet blizzard said take the player not the class...

Not to be rude, but the past should not give credit to the present. By logic like that, Ret should have less DPS than a Tank thanks to the ridiculous damage they were doing for awhile.

lol you mean, they should get an isntant kill button for the damage they did in TBC and especially vanilla WoW!
