Brand new 80 - Quick advice

I'm looking to heal. I can easily find cookie cutter heal specs myself, but I was wondering if there were any talents that you "grow out of" as you get better gear. For example, DPS classes have +hit talents that are not required as you aquire the gear. Are there any?

Also, which is a better with low gear - Disc or Holy? Difficulty is not an issue.

If you're aiming for heroic farm at start go disc.
When you are gonna raid it depends more on playstyle, but holy has a hard time with mana compared to disc if you are in blue's.
Improved healing could be 3 talent points taken at first and bypassing with better gear.
