Hm, a healing 2H weapon would be pretty nice. They should give healing 2H mace for shamans, in the form of a huge totem the taurens carry around

Problem is that it would be stupid in PvP if it had real 2H dps. Getting smacked by a resto shaman with windfury would be funny the first time, but after that less-so

Nah, wouldnt be a problem at all.
By that time hunters can dualwield crossbows and guns, and mages runs around as mini ragnaros'.

Oh, and deathknights with dualwield polearms!

I don't know how people can mix these up all the time. And yes, shamans do use staves! Just because they can use a shield doesn't mean that a staff without spirit is bad for them. So basically based on this the majority of caster weapon drops should be maces, since they are the only weapon that every class can use.
The problem with the whole sword argument is that now all swords have either hit or spirit to counter Paladins
Daggers tend to be the haste/crit alternative with maces being mp5 or spirit with haste or crit/mp5 which no one really wants anymore :/

Also as another argument, most Daggers in end game look like swords so it really doesn't seem logical for Paladins to not be able to use them

Probably because swords are a mostly physical weapon. Swords can have magical properties to them, like hte turning tide for holy paladins to use, but at heart the sword symbolises warfare, something priests aren't really in tune with I figure. In terms of pure gameplay - Prots need swords to tank with.

As for why paladins can't use daggers, they're too small! Paladins are mighty warriors/fighters who use weapons that go alongside their stoicism, daggers are not part of that. They are crafty...

Well more 'sinster' than craft really. Daggers give the kind of evil/cruel thing about them. The trickery part applies to spells also I suppose, though I really don't get daggers as healing weapons.

When people talk about a 'healing' dagger so you mean something with Mp5 on it?

Priest can't use swords, shamans can use staves, RT*M pls

just give all casters daggers, staves or maces and call it a day (leave swords to the melee).
No Darten, Elemental exists so resto shamans don't have to spend a minute to kill mobs when doing dailies.
