    23 SP or 49 Haste

Ok, I don't know which way to go. I have the furious gladiator dagger which has 573 SP with an epic gem in it, and 36 critical strike rating. However, on the other hand I have the guiding star that has 550 SP with 49 haste. All DPS test on the dummies have proven irrelevant because of the RNG factor.

    Thanks

According to Rawr the Guiding Star is better, but only by ~0.6%. So decide for yourself if it's worth it to re-enchant.

you know I just plugged it into a spread sheet and it put the guiding star at about 3 dps higher. Hopefully I'll get me a better weapon in totc or totgc soon :-P.

Well, utilizing more Spell Power improves the spell damage, while Haste improves the casting time, ergo, using less time to cast the spells. You've gotten a nice haste of 645 (25.57% @80), you might want to change your boots enchant into http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=60623, to enhance your RNG, and Hit. However, back on topic. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45147 seems to benefit Shamans better.[Hence the Haste.]

NO no no no no no no no no. 12 crit isn't even close to a speed enchant on your boots. Faster run speed=more pew pew by not having to move as much, and also helps you survive by getting out of fire faster (you move faster, doesn't make your reaction time faster...). Anyone raiding (or pvping, or anything) should always have a speed boost on your boots, UNLESS your spec gives you a passive speed boost (ie: feral druids speced into it).

As for the weapon, considering how many weapons drop in toc that are ALL better then both of those, I wouldn't bother about which is better (since both as close enough dps wise).

Edit: bah, 12 crit, not 10....

Actually it's 12 crit AND hit. Which means you can drop hit somewhere else and gem/enchant SP.

Running speed is not as important for ranged dps as for melee. We tend to move as little as possible and do not have to try to keep up with the boss when it is repositioned. Think of us as turrets

Their was a reason I didn't mention the 12 crit. Crit is next to useless for us (well, not useless....but close enough). The minor speed boost, while like you said SHOULD be useless for us, isn't. Most boss fights require us to move, and they do this almost as often as melee has to move. Name me fights where melee has to move more often then we do in current content (ToC atm). Fact remains, us moving kills our dps (since we are one of the few ranged classes that don't have meaningful (spl?) dots, so our dps pretty much stops everytime we move. Moving faster (granted not much faster) means we don't have to move as long==>more time pew pewing. If you actually look at how much dps 12 crit gives you, you'll see why people (vast majority of raiders/pvpers, and ALL of top guilds) choose to get the speed boost over 12 crit/hit. Now, if you NEED that 12 hit to stay capped...I would proably just gem it, you loose spell power (or haste depending on the slot).

Also, hes over hit cap as is (without the hit/crit boot chant) by about .47%, so that hit would do him nothing (Maybe if he had gear in his bank that he could use but isn't due to hit restrictions, but looking at his gear, replacing any of his hit gear would mean he would need to juggle more then 1 piece to stay hit capped).

And yes, we are turrets, hense why we want to get moving done as soon as possible.
