i'm not warrior,i have a plan to level it up,but i'm wondering is it possible to have 2hander in 1 hand, and Shield in other ?
And how viable is this ?
Excuse me if there were another posts like this.
Thanks.

You can equip two-hander and shield with TG. However, I don't see it being useful as far as tanking goes, except if you're a fury warrior wanting to tank
a heroic without respeccing. I'm fairly confident any sort of TG tanking spec is totally useless as far as current-tier raids go.
was about to say, since when to warriors have 3 arms?
Well i did not say that you will tank in this spec,i meant to increase your survivability ,and if you do this,do you dead fair amount of DMG ?
Only use for it is if the tank dies is to put on a shield, go into defensive stance, taunt and pop shield wall while the tank gets a BR or if the boss is at 1% or less.
To answer your question. Yes! Putting a shield in your off-hand with a two-hander in your main-hand increases your survivability. In fact, its a necessity to have a macro that will switch your offhand to a shield for emergencies.
You get the benefit of using shield block, but still get the bigger white swings and Blood thirsts of a two-hander. You also get some more armor from using a two hander in the main hand as oppose to a one hander (two handers have more strength)
It's also a useful trick for arenas iirc. If anyone still does arena as fury, that is. I don't really know.

So as an answer:
yes, leveling a fury warrior with a 2h+shield is a viable option.
pro:
your survivability will increase for sure.
you are able to use shield-abilities when switching to def stance
con:
whirlwind deals significantly less damage
decreased rage-gain(as compared to using 2 2h weapons)
due to slow attackspeed of a 2h you will most of the time be ragestarved.
so my recommendation: if you really want to have a good survivability either just spec def for leveling(yes, deals good damage and has awesome survivability) or get a hybrid spec for leveling purposes (31 pts into fury for bloodthirst because of lifereg, other points into def or weapons), fighting with a 1h+shield.
however both options won't deal damage that comes even close to pure fury/weapons spec.

Once I saw a guy like this (2h+shield). I had to screenshot it for lols. It's that completely useless for leveling. Sorry for disappointing you Yes it's doable but I would not call it viable.Originally Posted by hrcykvesa
Your rage generation will be gutted while losing the offhand damage and half of the WW damage.
If you want to level with shields, spec prot and use dps gear with shield in def stance. Big SS and revenge hits, great survivabilty, lots of control (stuns, silences), totally good. I've done that 70-80 and it was a blast, I easily soloed all elites that were less than 5 man group content, aoe pulled mobs and grinded them down, etc.
It's actually pretty damn good (not AS good as Arms or Fury, but decent)
Since Shield Slam can still be used, and you gain 20% str (talent) in Berserker Stance you will gain ALOT of block.
1 Problem though.... your rage will be STAAAAAAARVEEEEED
Your main rage income will be Bloodrage, Berserker rage, getting hit, and the occasional crit.
My advice to solve this a little is to get a fast twohander (since you won't be using any *weapon-based* abilities anyway)
I suggest a build like this for leveling:

My advice is this priority: Bloodsurge proc (Slam!) > Bloodthirst > Shield Slam > Heroic Strike (when over 60~ rage)
Good luck!

Just take a normal fury spec and whack on defensive stance + shield when the situation calls for it.
That wont happen often, but it get you through some tough encounters (particularly with proper use of defensive cooldowns).
After you get BT, you just glyph it and will never have any downtime because the heals will be more than enough. A shield will just slow you down.
Leveling as prot works, I leveled from 70-80 as prot, but it gets good only at 75 when you get enraged regeneration.

lots of fail here,Originally Posted by jaysenedwinward
bloodthirst dmg is based only on AP so weapon doesn't matter
secondly how the hell did you come up with the idea that str gives armor
Aren't MS, BT, and SHield Slam all on the same CD still?
When you shoop da whoop, you feel powerful and don't want to lose it, and then a guy in plate armor comes and turns your woop against the shoop, hence, making you got laz0red.

For tanking 5's and even some heroics it's fine.
After Cat and depending on where they place the 6% reduced chance to be critically hit it'll be a bit more viable.
For standard leveling though it's not so hot because you'll be rage starved so much, you'll also be missing out on a lot of threat while tanking due to lack of heroic strikes.
