Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

I have a little over 35k hp in frost presence.
Here's a link to my armory, let me know on what you think I should improve.
    http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...ail&gn=Wartorn
BTW, I had initially made these talents for AOE threat for H HoR and Onyxia whelps.
    Any advice is appreciated.

Try to get the helm off of ony. Run a lot of heroics until you can get a 2 hander off of the new ICCs for higher top end and more aggro. Tyranical Beheader has a lot of stam and a gem slot, aim for that one. That and you're way over expertise cap.

Drop the stam enchant to your gloves and pick up armsmen.

Pick up some professions. Jewelcrating offers the most stam, and maxxed out mining offers 55 extra stamina, so go with those two. Unless you have boatloads of money to blow on power leveling, then go with Jewelcrafting and enchanting/blacksmithing (both offer an additional extra 60 stam).

Don't raid unholy. Highest single target tps is blood. Also offers extra health. Frost is more of a defensive build.

^^^^^ all of the above but emphasizing the professions part.

Re: Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

I put together at least one, maybe two ICC 10 man raids a week for my alts.

38k is my cutoff level. If you have under that, I will not take you.

I am much more generous than most people I know.

Some corrections. Armsman is not a good enchant, stick with the stamina armor kit.

Mining gives +60 stamina, not +55. Jewelcrafting gives +63 extra stamina. Leatherworking gives +62 extra stamina. Blacksmithing gives two extra sockets, so the most versatile combination is BS + JC because you can get just as much benefit for your dps spec, unlike mining.

Don't overlook Engineering. The +armor glove enchant is amazing. You get more agility with your parachute cloak enchant and parachutes are great. And also you get a repair bot, jumper cables, auction house in dalaran, fun pvp toys like frost nova grenades, portable siege damage, and lots more fun stuff. Engineering is EASILY the best profession in the game.

Re: Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

Thanks for the quick replies. I've been 80 for a little over a week. No luck on getting the helm or sword from Onyxia.
Although, I question why you would replace a 245 helm with another 245 helm, as I am not expertise capped for tanking.
I have a pair of ilvl232 dodge trinkets, but I'm certain I'll need the health for bosses. 3k health will be very tricky to pick up, ill need a belt with 2 sockets and 245 chest/pants with 3 sockets each :-\

Run ToC 25, very easily puggable
Get the crafted 245 chest and bracers. Crusader Orbs are DEAD cheap now. You can get those for fairly cheap.
Get Tyrannical Beheader from Heroic PoS
Put the good leg armor patch on your legs

    Here are my tanks:

    http://www.wow-heroes.com/index.php?...ol&name=Hierax

    http://www.wow-heroes.com/index.php?...ol&name=Ganoes

You can look at them and see some of the pieces I have.

Also, you really need to get professions and powerlevel them. Like my pally Ganoes with JC + Mining gives me 123 extra stamina. That's well over 1k extra health that you could have.

Re: Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

There's no way I can get as geared as your two tanks, they have months worth of ToC 25 gear ???
Powerleveling JC/Mining looks like the best bandaid solution, perhaps ill make the 10k gold i need for the 245 chest and bracers in the process. Why is everyone hating on expertise? The Tyrannical Beheader looks like a sidegrade at best.

Re: Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

You need better gear if you want to tank icc. The easiest way would be to run alot of heroics and get badge gear and try to get trophies. Queue as a tank for instant queues. If you raid with your guild every week, there shouldn't be any problem getting a full set of stuff in 2-3 weeks, even as an offtank and hosting 25 mans with a small 10 man guild.

Re: Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

you can get carried, but cant be really competent here (but could be easily done with a decent groups given that icc isnt a heavy strain on tanks)

for instance i farmed rep on 10man on this toon http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sh...gall&n=Mesojed

had 245 dps triumph badge ring before it and i got essence of gossamer later (had lavanthor before) at about 29k hp and the point being that bosses arent much harder on tanks than the trash is

Re: Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

Tanking 10 IC really isn't that hard. If you switched to a decent blood spec you'd have about the same amount of HP as the first time I went into it on my DK tank. (just under 37k w/ frost pres. unbuffed iirc) I would still suggest going along with what other people say and getting somewhat better gear though, and at least getting some professions. The only boss that I find 'hard' on a DK is marrowgar since DK can't block. A liberal and smart use of cooldowns makes the fight easy however.

By the way, my DK's professions are herbalism and inscription.

Re: Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

Yet another, "Can I go out and play" post. IMO, this has the LEAST to do with gear (but it does a little).

Ask yourself two questions before any raid for the first time:

    1) Am I geared enough for this: Keep in mind WoW has a general progression of 10 tier sub-tier < 10 heroic sub-tier < 25 sub-tier < 10 current-tier < 25 heroic sub-tier < 10 heroic current-tier < 25 current-tier < 25 heroic current-tier in terms of gear. (this could be a little off, feel free to PM me or correct me in-line)

I believe that gearscore translates an average ilvl of about 245 into a gearscore of 5000. An average ilvl of 245 means 25 normal sub-tier experience nowadays so that means you should have a gearscore of at least 5000; it's my minimum for recruitment to my pugs for 10 or 25 icc.

    2) Am I comfortable doing this raid: Going in blind is fun, but if you do, make sure you're good at it and that the whole raid knows that is how they are doing things this run. Believe it or not, most people don't like that and you'll need a hardcore group of friends in order to take that approach and "learn by experience". On the flip-side, if you plan to just tank for any old person then you should definitely go watch videos and read up on fights. MMO-Champion makes for a great source for that as well as Wowhead and Wowwiki. Tankspot has really great instructional videos.

Also, on a side note: please don't just blindly take advice from people. You don't know them from eve and in some cases (as hilarious as they may be) some people choose to give shitty advice on purpose (not in this post, just in general). Do some research on your class and compare yourself to people who actually have experience in ICC tanking. Once you find those people, strike up conversations with them. You'd be surprised by how many people are willing to lend a free piece of advice or two as long as their not asked stupid questions like, "How do I gain threat?" instead of "I have ??? rotation, is there anything I can improve it with for single-target fights?"

Re: Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

5k gearscore atm isn't the necessary cut-off. It's just a suitable number for elitists who enjoy overgearing the content. I tanked 10man with 4700 (on my DK). Like I said, it's not really hard, it's a matter of knowing how to play your class. Deathwhisper is the only real fight that involves some bit of strategy to tanking. fyi most of my numbers are for 10 man only, since 25 is out of the question for this guy. Good luck however in not failing.

Re: Can I Tank ICC 10 Yet?

You are more than fine to off tank 10 man ICC if you finish leveling your professions/change your leg enchant to the good one. You will notice about a 1500 hp increase off of that alone.

Raid content is a joke as is, and 10 man ICC is so easy it's not even funny. Hopefully the next wing is a little harder. FU blizz on staggered release.
