    I will get banned? - Myth Buster!

    I'm trying to uncover what reasons for WoW banning are a myth. If you know anything about these myth reasons or have other myths let us know.

    Banned Reasons:

    1. Gaming keyboards (using the macro options to press buttons over and over).

    2. Graphic mods (mods that change game looks most common are nude mods)

    3. Mining Underground (it isn't very hard to fall through the earth in some locations allowing players to mine ore from underground.

    4. Buying Gold

    5. Selling Gold

    6. Exploits

    7. Racial comments in trade chat
    Beware, Overwatch consumes you!

    1. Most likely

    2.Not possible, I don't think, it's client-side and I don't think it's legal for blizzard to run something that checks client-altering graphics, and even then, they have nothing linking it to your account specifically

    3. This is generally done by hackers, so yes, I'd say so

    4-5: Hell yes, no doubt about it

    6. Depends on the GM's idea of exploits, if you were running around and DC'ed, then randomly respawned on top of mount hyjal or something, no, if you tried to get intot he zone on purpose, yes, and you can get baned for that

    7. If you're doing these in the first place, there's no doubt you probably need to be shot, banning is the least of your worries if anyone says racial comments

    Reason being blizzard bans in waves instead of one at a time, they always seem to exploit broken strands in the data to hack the game, blizzard finds these cracks in the data stream, fill them up, then find anyone who maliciously used them and trace them back to the account and bans hundreds, if not thousands, at once

    yeh, post fixed, and btw
    a mod that allowed nude would generically be classed as model hacking, which is against the TOS

    Considering it's right in the ToS that you can't do anything to alter the game files, and it's perfectly legal for them to verify that your game files match theirs, yes you can be banned if you happen to log on the day they do a check.

    Re: I will get banned? - Myth Buster!

    With the graphical mods, after some researching you may only be banned if you use an 3rd party thingy.

    Banned Reasons:
    1. Gaming keyboards (using the macro options to press buttons over and over).

    Can be taken as 3rd party tool giving you advantage over other players.

    2. Graphic mods (mods that change game looks most common are nude mods)

    You are not allowed to change graphics on your client. It can give you advantages over other players (Changing herbs and Mining deposit models for bosses to make them easier to find)

    3. Mining Underground (it isn't very hard to fall through the earth in some locations allowing players to mine ore from underground.
    Bug Exploitation

    We have a top notch Quality Assurance team who tirelessly stamp out bugs and design inconsistencies within World of Warcraft. However, a handful of trained professionals can never isolate and resolve each and every bug in such a deep and complex game accessed simultaneously by thousands of players. You may come across the occasional bug during your adventures. Some bugs are minor and do not affect gameplay, but sometimes these bugs can be used to provide an unfair advantage to certain players or affect the service itself.

    Factors included in determining the appropriate penalty:

    * Whether or not the exploit is performed intentionally, maliciously, and/or repeatedly
    * Whether or not the exploit damages another character, their gameplay, the service itself and/or its economy
    * Whether or not an attempt has been made to conceal the exploit's use

    4. Buying Gold

    5. Selling Gold
    Those are even in Terms of Use. You are not allowed to trade in game possesions for real life items.

    6. Exploits
    World of Warcraft has been carefully crafted to provide a level playing field for all players. Any activities not intended by game design which affect the economy, the client, player characters or the world itself have a tremendous negative impact on the potential enjoyment for all players. The effects of these activities take many forms including a bloated game economy, server instability, and allowing unauthorized access to accounts, computers, and player data. As such, we take the following issues very seriously and take swift and appropriate action on all players involved in these malicious activities related to World of Warcraft.

    * Abuse/distribution of unintended design flaws (bug exploitation)
    * Abuse of Game Mechanics
    * Use of unapproved Third Party software
    * Use of malicious user interface (UI) modifications
    * Data stream manipulation and data mining

    If a player is found to have abused/distributed an exploit, he/she may:

    * Be given a verbal warning if exploitation is unintentional and no attempt has been made to hide its occurrence
    * Be temporarily suspended from the game
    * In extreme cases the account will be closed outright

    Bug exploitation that we consider extreme includes, but is not limited to:

    * Any exploit that has a severe negative impact on a realm's economy
    * Causing disruption in service or intentionally crashing a realm/server

    While these repercussions may seem harsh, we feel very strongly that this type of abuse has no place within Azeroth due to its negative effect on other players or the service itself.

    7. Racial comments in trade chat
    We consider language to be public when said in the "General" and "Trade" channels as well as with the "yell" command and the “say” command. Since comments in these forums are visible to the largest number of players, we take harassment in these channels very seriously. Abuse of language in these mediums will receive at least the penalty listed below, if not additional repercussions in accordance with the World of Warcraft Terms of Use.

    Highly Inappropriate
    Language which falls under the following categories is deemed to be highly inappropriate. Clarification on what constitutes each category can be found by clicking on the links below.

    * Paedophilia
    * Racial/Ethnic
    * Extreme Sexuality/Violence
    * Real-Life Information and Threats
    * National
    * Major Religions or Religious Figures
    * Sexual Orientation

    Yes. You should do more research before claiming something is a myth.

    Is that a permanent ban or just a few hour ban? It happens so much I can't imagine there is much punishment. Seems like every time I enter town there is an ANAL [Destroyer of worlds] posted in trade.

    I didn't mean it like that. I meant posting a link to a website.

    I have read it, but doubt they actually Ban for all of those reasons. Some of them seem like J walking, you probably won't get a ticket unless the cop has another reason to bust you.

    Ive got permabanned for being racist in trade chat on my old account.
    Mining undreground is considered exploitation and thus 3d+ bannable.
    Using model editations is bannable if blizzard ever finds out.

    Wow you reported gold farmers....

    you do realize its gold selling that is bannable right?

    Every gold seller i've reported and put on my ignore list is removed in less than a week for the account no longer being active.

    Just cause they farm gold doesn't mean they sell it.

    Nah, this goes along the theory of "It's only illegal if you get caught!"

    You know, do it a thousand times and get away with it, but then one day, BAM!

    That isn't a keylogging link. keylogging links record and send back keystrokes made, meaning they jack your passwords and/or account names... not just for wow but for everything you type.

    I report gold farmers who are using programs to automate it. You can easily tell who they are by watching them walk for about 5 seconds. Real players don't turn/move instantly and perfectly.

    Never heard of Warden?

    The fact remains...

    You do not own your account, Blizzard does. Therefore they can do what ever they want with it. They can legally ban you for nothing.
