Noob WOTLK Raiding Question

Sorry for the noob question, I was a hardcore raider from the launch of wow through sunwell and started looking into it again. I was wondering what the items mean that say "Heroic" in green letters under an item. Obviously the heroic version of an item is only obtained when you switch the raid to heroic mode and kill the boss, but I wanted to know if they are only usable i heroic mode or if you can still use them in the normal mode after you get it or pvp. Thanks for the clarification.

They can be used anywhere mate. That is just a "tag" saying that its the heroic mode so people dont confuse the Stats from the Normal with the Heroic Mode. And of course, it can be used in PvP.
