Need help with a customization study

    Hi all,

We are part of a game research team at Teachers College, Columbia University, NY. Currently, we are conducting a study on the effect of customization on player enjoyment and motivation in MMORPGs. The study is approved by Institutional Review Board. This survey is conducted entirely for academic research purposes, and it is not affiliated with Blizzard. If you would like to help and fill out the survey please click link provided below. Also, on the first page of the survey, there is more information and a consent form that you can read before you start to fill out the survey.

Thanks very much for your time,
    Sonam Adinolf + Selen Turkay

p.s. I read the forum rules, and I'm almost 100% sure this follows them, since we're not selling anything and we don't work for any corporation, or we are not using any offensive words. If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to post them here. We'll be checking back here regularly for a while.

Looks like a well researched keylogger tbh.

Googled the name Sonam Adinolf and found him listed on the website for the Games, Learning & Society Conference, together with Selen Turkay and a Charles Kinzer on a session concerning Customizability in MMO Games and Its Effect on Player Enjoyment and Motivation.

    Actually sounds pretty interesting imo.

All in all, it looks pretty legit apart from the fact that the session apparently were in 2008....

Thank you for googling. We had another session in 2009 at GLS as well, and there will be another conference presentation coming in Feb in WCES2010 This is more revised survey - more like lessons learned from previous ones- and part of a larger study which is Selen Turkay's pilot study working towards her dissertation...

Although I'm not touching it (I'm at work anyway), surveymonkey is a legit survey site, I believe.

Yes, surveymonkey is a professional survey site. Altough you may use free membership option for trial, it requires paid membership for long term and more advanced surveys. thank you!

Re: Need help with a customization study

    Hi all,

Thank you so much for you help so far - both for filling out the survey and for giving me feedback on it. My research cannot happen without your help. I just wanted to announce that we will be collecting data until February 7th (including Feb 7th). I appreciate your help if you have 15 minutes or so to spare to fill out the survey. I define customization quite broadly, but I would like to hear how others think about customization in games.... I found some threads related to customization in this forum which is great! I will read through and see what is on them along with the survey data analysis.

    Thanks again!

    cheers,
    Selen
