    New Profession Idea

i dont know if its ever been suggested but personally i think it would be pretty cool to have a profession who makes weapons such as Staves, Polearms, Bows and Crossbows.

the gathering profession to go with it would be (i think this is funny) Lumberjack, of something of a Wood Gathering nature.

it would work the same as any mineral or herb node. in areas you just gather different types of wood.

similar to a miner you would need a table saw (like a smelter) or lumber mill to cut different types to make a certain wood.

with the Wood Working side of it you would make the weapons i already stated and for instance a Staff would require a certain gem you could get from a Jewelcrafter.

its something ive thought about for a while considering ive never seen any profession make these things.

im sure some will think this idea is no good but i think it would be interesting.

I've heard of this before and it seems like a good idea, however, it'd have to give something other than the weps otherwise (unless they're BiS or some massive upgrade like the Hilt) its not going to be profitable or usefull in the long run

you know after i typed that in i realized that it would need more that just weapons. im sure professions trinkets, pets, etc. things like that would add a lot to it.

and i would definately think as it got toward end game there should be the ability to get patterns for higher item level weapons.

I've seen this suggestion many times, yet it is still a good suggestion if you ask me, beneath one thing which is. Would a Night Elf ever take up Wood Working?

i have to say thats a good question for sure.

i didnt think my idea was unique by any means. i wish there were a way to submit it to blizzard though.

I think bounty hunting would be an interesting secondary profession. :P

You'd have a series of quests to level the profession and have daily quests that can be done solo or within a group at max level to earn money and sometimes rare items. Low level quests could simply be to subdue the person, who knows.

that one never even crossed my mind but it sounds like it would be fun. im sure rogues would get some kind of benefit from it to make up for that crappy pick pocket ability (thats just me)

Not sure what these are, just food for thought.
i havent thought of a 2nd crafting profession that could go with this but im sure someone would come up with something.

maybe someone can make wood armor but just make sure to stay away from Fire Mages <---- obvious joke there.

about bounty hunting being a second profession, maybe instead make it a new mechanic to the game to penalize players who commit crimes cross faction such as killing a guard or camping players in low levels let the players take justice against them, by accepting a quest to hunt down and kill the orc/human who killed x amount of players on either side, i think it would spice up pvp and make it quite personal, your thoughts?

What could you 'prospect' from wood? Other than Termites? (A barkskin reagent?)
well making Shaman Totems, Druid Idols, Paladin Librams etc. might be a good addition, maybe make ones for lower levels and dont add a ton of them because of simple choice over load.

i also thought about it, a good mount would be like a canoe or some kind of boat to obviously go across large bodies of water, and would give an extra few points to fishing. this idea might be a bit obsolete when flying is available to the old world. still having a boat would be a cool mount.

this sounds even better. its similar to how in Oblivion your Infamy or Fame goes up depending on what you do. obvious a high rate of bad deeds gets you on the hunted list.

there would however always need to be limitations to this because such a good idea could quickly get out of hand and that would make the game less enjoyable.

as a side note i definately think their should be a penalty for people who gank all the time. its ridiculous.

this comes up every now and then, and one problems i see with it excluding that it will only be able to make some very limited items is that it would also require a new gathering proffesion that would supply mats only to this proffesion.

someone else had brought this up and it would be nice to have another profession to use with wood gathering, but up until inscription, herbalism almost only supplied Alchemy so they could come up with a another profession in time.

Some bows and staffs are made from metals -seeing how overcrowded the herb zones ALREADY are putting miners in competition with your new profession might be wise.

Cutting down trees ain't gonna be too popular with us dr00ds though ^^
