i know druids cutting down trees is kinda wierd and when i originally came up with this i didnt think about that.

i would think they would need to add some new nodes because if they went off actual trees there would be none left.

i thought about that some more after i posted that, i mean with my druid (Clamor) i didnt get an idol for a long time, and when i did it was nearly useless.

so having a profession that makes them would be nice. it doesnt have to be something that has a ton of stats. it could be simple things like adds 5 spell power to moonfire etc.

id say have something for MP5 for the healers but since the stats are chaning around in Cataclysm i guess it would be something like 10 spirit maybe.

either way this is a great idea.

the gathering profession to go with it would be (i think this is funny) Lumberjack, of something of a Wood Gathering nature.

it would work the same as any mineral or herb node. in areas you just gather different types of wood.

similar to a miner you would need a table saw (like a smelter) or lumber mill to cut different types to make a certain wood.

with the Wood Working side of it you would make the weapons i already stated and for instance a Staff would require a certain gem you could get from a Jewelcrafter.

its something ive thought about for a while considering ive never seen any profession make these things.

im sure some will think this idea is no good but i think it would be interesting.
Very nice idea but the things you craft should be a lot more type of things then only 4 types of weapons... 6 if u wanna count maces ;D AND WUUT ABOUT WANDS

Maybe also idols and totem..... and give librams to inscriptions.... but wtf are sigils but give them to some proff too..

maybe also like jc can make some cloth heads let wood working get some type of shoes (comfy!)

And wooden trinkets arent odd either
And also make arrows for wood working too, instead of engi...

nice additions. i have to say. i agree with needing to make more than the original weapons i mentioned, i dont know if you read it before but i thought of even making a mount that floats on water that you can fish out of. it might not seem that cool at first but its really not far fetched and i think it would be fun.

i agree with librams going to inscription, as for siglis im not completely sure myself.

All crafting professions add spell power/attach power/mp5 to something in-game, while the crafting professions bring a more static bonus. What are those for our new professions. I'd say RelicMaster lets you add direct enchant/buffs to relic slot items. What about wood working? That's the tough call.
well lumberjacking would maybe increase your overall armor value that would be a start.

i would definately say Relic Masters being able to add some kind of enchant or consumable to their idol/librams etc. what ever might go in the ranged slot.

wood working....im not sure what would be a good bonus, you dont want consumables to add armor value because leatherworkers do that already. you could add sockets to ranged slot items possibly, or when they make an off hand they can make them with a socket already attaced. its just what came to mind first.

either way i would like to submit this to blizzard but i dont want to just post on official forums, i dont know anyway to show them though

I think this profession would be cool if they also implemented player housing...like in FFXI.

    Re: New Profession Idea

Always wanted it since I saw a post about it on wow insider.
It would become really cool to see people farming simple wood and selling it instead of having to buy it off the AH. If it backtracks to vanilla era it could even be enchanted wood for the creation of better bows/staffs or wtv.

Neat idea and would be nice for Sigils/relics/idols as everyone probably stated.

I see it as a pack proffesion tough :P YOu get Lumberjacking for gathering and Woodcrafting for... crafting :P
Lumberjacks can hack wood. Pile it together and then it can be used by woodcrafters.
Enchanters would use Lumberjacking since they will need some ressources for maybe rods?

Tons of alternatives :P Keep ideas coming this sounds fun!

edit: Raid Buff Campfires :D The incense of the fire increases Healing/damage by 1% for all raid members for example :P

Or instantly deployable ones that increase their ressource regeneration by 50% for 20 seconds.

Their is one downside of Lumberjacking.

An over zealous player and Resto Druids.....

  19. #39

    Re: New Profession Idea

Lumberjacking just sounds too... pornographic... to me.

Let's face it though, there are already enough professions in the game.

    Gathering:
    Herbalism - plants
    Mining - ore
    Skinning - animals
Disenchanting (part of Enchanting) - magical items
Prospecting (part of Jewelcrafting) - gems from ore
Frostweave Scavenging (part of Tailoring) - extra cloth drops on mobs

    Crafting:
    Alchemy - off-hand items
Blacksmithing - plate armor, axes, maces, swords, shields
    Enchanting
Engineering - hunter ammo, random armor items / trinkets
    Inscription - off-hand items
Jewelcrafting - trinkets, rings, neck pieces
Leatherworking - leather & mail armor
    Tailoring - cloth armor

So after that breakdown, do you think that we really need to be able to "gather" everything else from the world environment - and do we really need to be able to create everything and anything that a player could use? I don't think so. Plus, I've seen the woodcarving/lumberjacking/whatever thread too many times to count, and it has never been written clearly and concisely with well thought out examples. Also, if you want to see it in the game, the first step would be to post it on the OFFICIAL forums, not mmo-champ.

oil drilling, player can use a portable oil rig/drill to extract different earth oils, and refine them into oils with different viscossity or purpose, maybe they can be used for everything including weapon oils that last x amount of time including ranged weapons that maybe have unique procs. it could also be used to compliment other professions perhaps (woodworking if it ever came to be) to finish products, or engineering to buff mechanical mount speeds by small increases or guns dps increases etc., it would also probably serve best as an addition as a secondary proffesion also to be able to specc into what ever primary proffesion you currently have to kind of make them a bit more interesting. i liked the idea of adding unique procs to strengthed ones class, and i wouldnt mind seeing weapon oils back in the game, a new proffesion is a good way to do that and keep the game fresh

compliments and criticizm always welcomed, yea i know being a druid would conflict with this, blah blah
