Ranged tanking at the Blood Princes

Today we were trying the blood princes in ICC10, and I was the ranged tank. I'm was running as an ele shaman, not the best choice for ranged tank I guess but the only other alternatives were hunter and mage. But anyway, every pull the same thing happened: Keseleth one-shot me as soon as he enraged. I had three nuclei on me for sure, even tried with 4, but the same thing happens over and over again, his shadow lance hits me for about 23khp which was all I had (we missed a few buffs).

Was I missing something here? Or is it supposed to hurt this high. and if so, is a ranged tank other then a demo lock really a smart thing to do?

use stoneblood flask and scroll of stamina and you should be OK

You really need to try to get to 30k hp buffed in order to do this, which ele shaman would have a hard time doing without pvp gear. You would be better off having your hunter attempt it using deterrance if needed, especially if he's marksmen.

or just use a normal tank to tank it? the other two can easily be tanked by one tank

done it with a lock with 24-5k and a mage with 23k :< frost ftw ;O

I tanked him as hunter. almost normal PvE spec with the exception of

Kill Shot opener is a great threat grabber and those extra yards in shots really make
the difference when shooting Nucleuses (sp?) to me.

edit: oh forgot.. had something like 29k hp with my normal pve gear + buffs during that fight

The error I made seemed to be that the nuclei (which is the multiple of nucleus right?) give multiplicative damage reduction, not additive. So with three on you get 0.65*0.65*0.65=0.275 amount of shadowdamage, which makes a 90 lance hit for about 25k (less then I had in hp). Having 5 nuclei on you makes it about 11k, but you also get more damage. Guess the tradeoff from burst to steady damage is worth it tho.
