    Laptop Advice Please !

    Hi,

Although i know a laptop will prolly never beat a good ol'desktop in terms of gaming experience the need has arisen for me to invest in a laptop for work , study ect.

I know nothing about laptops , spec or performance but im about to buy this one.

I just wondered if some kind soul could cast a experienced eye over the specs and advise me whether it would run games primarily WoW as i say its mainly for work but could be handy if i go away for work etc

    Thanks in advance

The graphics card is what will drag you down big time. Probably all mini settings. When buying a laptop to play games you usually need to spend a decent amount of money. Always make sure the graphics card is ether some decent Radeon or nvidia card.

Even then you should research the card before buying. I'v made mistakes in my passed. You do not want a bad laptop. Even with the lowest settings ICC will destroy your laptop.

I spent around 1000$ on a laptop and it barley ran wow. about 20fps in northrend all mini settings. I went to do ICC and it was horrible.

I know you said its for work and study but i'd recommend looking into a costume built one. Do not go to alienware. Try sager as they have good prices on laptops and there pretty cheap.

    OK thanks,

So the specs are fine apart from the graphics card.

Like i said mainly it is for work related stuff so it is not majorly important it will run WoW at max settings i have a desktop for that, But for running at medium - low settings it will run for farming, dailies etc?

I don't think it would be playable in North rend friend. I had a nforce nvida card and i got like 20 or less fps in north rend.
My concern is the graphics card. You probably would be stuck with 5-10 fps and lag badly on combat with more like 3 mobs. (and this is with everything down to the lowest setting)

I don't see that laptop being able to do anything in North rend. I'm not trying to put you down or anything i just wanna save you money.

I wouldn't buy it. Save your money and look around a bit more.

If your buying a gaming laptop, make sure its AMD, and make sure its HP, mine cost me 1100 taxes in, Below is its base specifications.

I get about 45fps (on average) with vsync on in windowed mode at 1360x768 resolution.

a much better choice for wow.

The one you linked has an onboard graphics chip. It will run wow on minimal settings, It will handle 5 man dungeons(dailies, etc), but you will get 10 fps max in 25 man raids. Do yourself a favour and get a laptop which a has a video card with 'dedicated' memory.

Here are a couple more viable laptops (kept it around 500 pounds and 15inch screen):
