Cradle of Filth.. horror metal? Really? Could people please stop making up goddamn fucking retarded metal genres for no reason whatsoever?

Also, THRASH metal. Not Trash. Personal pet peeve. One you dump in a garbage can, the other has you flailing about wildly. You guess which is which.

New My Dying Bride album out. This is the only track I've listened to, but I dig it:

Does anybody know what genre Heaven Shall Burn is? I've heard them being deathcore, death metal, melodic death metal etc. but can't really put a finger on which.

    Metalcore, mostly.

Genres are never that simple though.

The first song is melodic metalcore, the second a mixture of melodic metalcore and melodic death metal.

They seem rather fast paced compared to other melodic metalcore bands imo. But yeah, on the second you're probably right. They're probably a mixture of metalcore and melodic death metal.

Pretty much bogstandard Metalcore. They're one of the cornerstones of the genre.

Looking to get pointed towards some new bands...

Traditionally, I am a huge fan of the following:
    In Flames
    Dry Kill Logic
    Demon Hunter
    Spineshank
    Soilwork
    Ill Nino
    Rammstein

The pattern? I really prefer songs/bands that include some actual singing (melodic?) to their music. I can't do 100% screaming / growling, but anything that weaves between heavy and melodic is OK in my book.

    Examples:

Any suggestions for a less-hardcore fan?

Some additional suggestions, some of which a bit heavier than others:

    Amorphis
    Opeth
    Akercocke
    <Code>
    Primordial
    Anaal Nathrakh
    Anything Devin Townsend
    Enslaved (late, not early)
    Samael
    Laibach
    The Dillinger Escape Plan

    ---------- Post added 2012-10-19 at 07:24 PM ----------

    Something else:

Those were all really hard, but added to Pandora in an effort to ease into the acquired taste.

edit: added all of your suggestions too Duilliath...we'll see how it goes!

Was hoping for things just a hair bit softer / melodic, but this will round out my upper end of the spectrum nicely.

One of my favorite songs right now: (slowly realizing I'm probably the equivalent of a Justin Beiber fan here...y'all are hardcore)

I like a lot of stuff. Just not a lot of what you're fan of That said, a few of the suggestions I gave should serve you reasonably well.

    Oh, try Killswitch Engage.
