Ok North korea, I mean MMO-Champion

Anyone else think this is getting a tad rediculous? These stupid banns for little thing to people who voice their opinion with any anger or anything at all, I understand banning trolls, highly offensive people or obssesive cussing but seriously im seeing people get banned for using words like retarted or gay or things like that, ok so some people dont really agree with the use of those words but its not worth banning someone over what happened to freedom of speech, instead their censoring stuff and quickly hush hushing the people who post them HA funny, imo its these new moderators getting overzelous with their new job, (sorry for bad grammar and punctuation, it's late and i have an eyelash in my eye >.<)
Vote for Basic Campfire you know its the right choice!

So then you understand why that's an issue. Case closed.

This is a website, not America. That means they can makes the rules, and if you don't like it don't come here.

Re: Ok North korea, I mean MMO-Champion

I am sorry to hear that you dislike our Moderation work. However, keep in mind that we are trying to make this a happy place for you.

Also: We do give Warnings, we do delete posts without banning people. There are even whole threads that are locked away and will never see daylight again while no people have been banned. We try to prevent people from Flaming or whatever else, and in order to do so, we do a lot "behind the scenes".

Yes, it is true that a lot of people are getting banned lately. Does this mean there are (Note: we) power hungry Moderators lurking in the Bushes and waiting for you to go flaming or something else? Does this mean we hate you? Well, it could be one of these cases. But its mostly because MMO-Champion was short on Moderators for a while, and that there weren't enough people to track every offender down to "punish" them.
There are now though, so you will see a lot of people who should have been banned before, getting banned now.

On a side note: If a user has a Grey Name, they are Perma banned. Other will be banned for a certain amount of time/days.

I think that particularly "retard" and "gay" are entirely inappropriate as cuss words, for very obvious reasons. They're childish and ugly and I'm glad we don't have to take them any more. Thank you, moderators, keep up the good work!

People should expect a sudden wave of bans with the influx of new mods to the boards, people are still finding their feet and flexing their admin powers, let them get on with it.

I don't mind the moderating if it steers threads towards an actual discussion and away from petty/childish behavior.

It's a commen mistake to think that freedom of speech equels the right to say whatever you like. This is NOT the case, not where I live, not in the US or any of the EU countries. Freedom of Speech gives you the right to express your opinion, but when doing so you may be made responsible for what you said. You are not prevented your opinion, but if that opinion is offensive towards someone or uncorrectly accusing someone, then that someone can make you responsible if he/she can bring proff that what you said is infact untrue, and you will be brougt to justice and have to pay a fine for example.

Same thing goes for MMO-Champions, you can provide your opinion but if it is offensive to someone you might get banned.

Check my signature if you think it's unfair.

But hell. Everyone knows the mods are the forum's dictators. Still, we choose to use the forum so if you don't like their rules there's little you can do about it. 'Cept complain of course, but that scarcely helps.

I think we've just proved in this topic alone that everyone has a different sense of how offensive something is. We're not moderating to suit any one individuals tastes, we're just following guidelines which everyone was supposed to be following (and agreed to follow, else they wouldn't be here) for a few years now.

If you have any specific complaints about moderation please message either myself, another admin or a global moderator.
