SP: 264 item worth losing T9 2p bonus from 245 items?

So, I'm still running around with my Shadow T9 legs and hands, both itemlevel 245. I got iLvl 264 Gunship Captains Mittens (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50011) I could use for my hands slot. I'd probably get the TOC crafted trouser (forgot the name) if I switched to the nonset hands (which would also help me with the too much hit I got).

I will get the T10 chest today after work for the 2p bonus there. But I am still not sure if I should drop the awesome 6 seconds on VT for a 264 item and another 245 crafted (I can't get the ICC crafted ones because of not having enough gold).

Shadowpriest.com which normally serves me well when comparing items doesn't have the 245 T9 stuff listed anymore for patch 3.3 so I'm not really sure if the new hands (and TOC crafted pants) would make up for the ~111PP loss from the setbonus?

I think you should keep and use both. The six seconds of extra uptime on VT is only a dps gain if the extra ticks are allowed the time to actually. If a mob dies faster than the regular VT time, what use is the T9 2-part bonus? I don't know what you raid, how, etc, but you can always switch out the gear based on where you are. It's pretty obvious that the T9 2-part bonus doesn't help you squat in heroic dungeons, for example.

The T9 2pc is worth 111.32 Pseudopower (PP)

Assuming hit is not an issue, DPS gained from other dps stats for

Gunship mittons vs T9 gives 268.94 vs 201.66, 67.28 PP gain

Leggings of woven death vs T9 gives 430.44 vs 273.08 for a 157.36 gain

so in total by switching from T9 to gunship mittons and leggings of woven death, assuming you don't fall below hit cap by doing so, you lose 111.32 from the set bonus but gain 224.64 from raw stats increase.

so for single target dps the T9 won't help you. The only time the set bonus might help would be on gimick fights where you spreading VT around the board on a significant number of targets.

I was faced with a nearly identical decision a bit ago. Both in theorycrafting and in practice, it is a clear upgrade to go with the 264 items. Practice a little on a dummy as your rotation will be a bit different to start. Once you get going in a fight though, since we're on a priority cast system, it's not a big deal.

When are you gonna change a 245 item? With ilvl 277 from heroics?

When new content is out you've gotta live with the fact that sooner or later you'll loose all of your setbonuses.

How is having more free globals to mind flay when you don't have to recast VT not a dps increase? over the course of a fight 6 seconds more on VT will save you several recasts resulting in more flays which is obviously a dps increase. Stop being so elitist and think

In a normal 5min boss fight you use 20-30sec cating vt depening on your amount of haste, with the setbonus its rougly 15-22sec casting vt deping on haste. Thats a diffrence on 5-8sec depending on haste its maybe not alot but its still a few mind flays.
