Suggestions?

Hello,

I'm looking for some suggestions as to my current situation. Here's the scoop. My main, Prot Pally, has been being neglected. With work, family, and too many alts that I've been spending my time on, I haven't tanked in quite some time. I stopped tanking about a month and a half ago, and I've got the itch again. Before I took my break, I was tanking all WOTLK Heroics pretty easily, including some raids.

I'm no raider, so I don't have the latest and greatest gear wise, but I think I'm doing ok. Anyway, I tried tanking again yesterday... and it was terrible. I did H UP, and it was a wipe fest haha... group disbanded, but anyway... I don't know what happened, I haven't changed anything, I just don't know what happened.

Don't ever gem pure dodge.
Get rid of Reckoning, put it in Vindication/Crusade
Get Glyph of Divine Plea and Seal of Vengeance
I'm not completely sure about this, but 30 stam > 10 stats.
Get the stam and armor meta once you have enough defense.

As for threat, I have to ask...
Are you using RF and 6969?

Missing cloak and chest enchants. Grab some defense enchants on those and you'll be able to drop some defense gems in favor of some 30 stams. As for geming, I would use hybrid gems such as Shifting Dreadstone(10agi/15stam) and Enduring Eye of Zul(10def/15stam) to activate your meta or grab any stam bonus over +9stam.

Also, if you're only going to be doing low-end raid and heroic tanking, stacking some Shield Block Value(maby 10str/15stam over 10agi/15stam gems) in addition to your current meta (21def/5% SBV) can give some decent mitigation and threat. Keep in mind this isn't for everyone and it shouldn't do something like this half-way.
