    divine protection

can somebody here who played a paladin for ages remember when divine protection used to be a spell that granted the paladin immunity to melee damage and made him unable to deal melee damage back...
yeah well can you confirm that the spell was sself only and not castable on others?

You were indeed thinking of blessing of protection. I do remember the original divine protection, that was basically divine shield but only last 10 seconds.

    Re: divine protection

Divine Protection used to be our bubble that was 6 / 8 seconds trained, before learning divine shield for 10 / 12 second ranks.

Blessing of protection was the physical immunity bubble. Divine Prot was all damage same as Divine Shield

Divine Protection is/was only self cast... it used to grant complete immunity like Divine Shield, but had a shorter duration and you couldn't attack through it. Hand of Protection (used to be Blessing of Protection) has always been castable on others.

DP has its uses when tanking, or in PvP. Let your enemy waste their special attacks on DP, while you can keep hitting them without damage reduction penalty.

i use DP all the time in pve for that same reason. i can stay in and attack at full damage and "stand in fire" so to speak.
