On the other hand, dedicated servers don't have to be the solution. Bad Company 2 got a lot of dedicated server, and on pretty much every server I've joined I've had at least like 300 ms in ping, with the average on the server raging from 200-500 ms. Also, yesterday, I tried joining a friends server. The game threw me into another server, however, time after time after time. I do bet some tweaking can be done with MW2, yes.
If I was a Blizz server technician, I'd hijack a server and use it to download porn 24/7. Guess why the instance servers always are full B]

I agree on most of your points the community is just annoying >.< like today I killed 4 people with my riot shield in S&D and I get called a noob.
But if you can't handle people calling you noob don't play online games just ignore them.
The amount of level hackers just aint normal on MW2 70% of the people above prestige 6 hacked it how is that even possible? because IW isn't doing anything against them because if they did they would lose about 40% of there MW2 players and then the game would probably die.
If you don't want to get bad lobbys or laggy hosts etc. just get a friend with a open router that is a good host let him make a party and then join him with 3 more people so there is 5 of you then there is a 70% chance that he will be the host so no lag for you.
Clans in public whats the problem with that? It's not like :O i joined a clan lets stop playing public! just join a clan yourself.

The only real problem with MW2 is the lack of dedicated servers. If that existed admins could ban cheaters, restrict weapons, perks and killstreaks and people could play on a server that was on their terms. At this point the only thing I enjoy in this game is quickscoping and that has gotten me called a cheater more then once wich is annoying but doesn't really matter. Put in dedicated servers and the game would be awesome.

just because you're above the 6th prestige doesn't mean that you hacked it and 70% of em haven't hacked you twat -_-, the ones that reached prestige 10 after a week was obviously hacking but by now alot of people have reached the 10th prestige legit.

Re: MW2, IWNet, and the players

what does it require to reach prestige?

    nothing but TIME!

I did play this game for about 2 weeks in case they would add dedicated servers...

suprised to see anyone even caring about playing it on pc anymore (on console it's cool though)

Re: MW2, IWNet, and the players

10th Prestige legit, about now is probably do able if you don't have a life.

i don't consider anyone right now with lvl 10 prestige to be good. i'm at 3rd prestige (i don't care about cod that much any more) and i was invited to a 10th prestige game, needless to say i came out victorious mutliple times, 10th prestige means crap all people.
it's like GS it's just saying look at me i got 10th prestige i have to be amazing at this game when really your not that good.

one of the games i used intervention and no-scoped and throwing knifed a 20 kill streak, now they had to be newbs if i could do that.

also with regards to 10th prestige, 10th prestige was hacked for months after release and it's still happening now. it's a pointless thing to do, as it doesn't show your skill lvl/experiance from that point on, it shows that you suck and want 10th prestige because you kno you won't get there.

as Pub rolling clans, i take em on 1 man army style, i stick to the shadows and kill them whilst their watching my headless chicken team mates, these clans are lame i haven't met one that has bested me on a mission. half the time their all laughing about 1 of them hacking glitching the maps which is newby to say the least, then the others shouting about noob tube kill, ROFL noobtubes hahaha give me a break now if you were shouting about knife kills or throwing knife kills or you got friends with benifits or at least something with skill involved i would let it slide.

between lag switching, prestige hackers and aimbotters, i'm pretty fed up with the whole CoD series now, if i do get a clean game these days i'm riddled with lag or get cannot connect to host crap, or it tries to change host and fails.

CoD 4 MW best CoD ever
CoD 5 WaW sucked monkey testicles and treyarch nearly killed CoD dead
CoD 6 MW2 had a great novelty factor and some new stuff to play with but the online just isn't as good anymore.
COD 7 Hmmmmm think i'm gonna miss that treyarch poop out this time

    ^ I disagree Orccy.
CoD 2 multiplayer was the best.

Its beating Modern Warfail 2 now on PC!
That game was just balanced so well it was a pleasure to play.

Re: MW2, IWNet, and the players

There is only 1 thing I actualy like about hackers (yes it sounds sad), its when they take over a game and change maps and change the game type to like Thermal Global Nuclear War or somethign else.

Re: MW2, IWNet, and the players

unfortunately i didn't have my ps2 online to play cod 2, if it is a balanced as you say i may give it a go.

now back to the thread. since PSN last patch (the one that got rid of the other OS) there has been a huge decline in hackers and lag on CoD, it hasn't stopped the lag switchers but they dice with luck against me, because i know your doing it and i know how to kill you before you even try.

however i am still constantley getting abused myself by little kids, (who tbh shouldn't even be playing CoD), they scream and shout at me when we hit the lobby again shouting you aimbotter and lag switcher i even had this one guy the other day go skitso nuts at me for killing him nearly 20 times. i don't us anything but my hands and controller to play.

the problem was as i pointed out to him that he plainly sucked. he then went on to say that because i was a prestige lower than him that i shouldn't be able to beat him, which then prompted my response again (DUDE U JUST SUCK) i didn't do anything special, i had my scar silenced with scavengar on as i do most days and just went to town, i don't camp for any huge length of time, i camp untill i feel safe and move on.

also 9/10 games the other day would end due to rage quitters, and that would usually be after a few no-scope/quick-scope hits from the intervention, which seems to just piss them off to the point of rage quit and ending my game, damn u suckers.

it seems to me that the hackers are now finally getting a taste of their own medicine except i rofl stomp em without hacks or aimbots

Re: MW2, IWNet, and the players

So i guess the Console versions are much better because nobody can type anything during the match. Still a high chance of some little shit spouting off on your own team though.

Honestly though, if you've played First person shooters like Counterstrike, being called a noob is probably the nicest thing you'll get as an insult.

All that Synthaxx described in this current installment of the series is pretty much the same that happened in the PC version of Call of Duty 4, minus the server issues.

(EDIT:As a side note, Punkbuster certainly didn't catch all hackers, but at least with the combination of actual admins on a dedicated server, AND an anti-cheat system, it worked much better than Modern Warfare 2's system.)

Yes, i am aware that there is an overall degradation in terms of play and attitude in FPS. But then again, it's not like it was any better before. Counterstrike players certainly weren't scholars.
