Exactly, you will use it when it suits YOU, when you have a gimmick buff or when the boss is in a weakened phase, you won't pop ToR just before Sindragosa takes off but Abyssal Rune isn't going to stop proccing just because you can't hit the boss.

And if the fight is like Patchwerk, no gimmicks, no passive phases, then what exactly IS stopping you using ToR each time it comes off cooldown?

Just invis the tear gas, you win!

Way to grasp the principle of the situation there, I guess you could also invis BQLs fear bomb or the Lich King's Val'kyr pickup to save the proc...

    Re: Rawr's trinket decision

Well you shud just iceblock the fear bomb and that phase in general.
And in 25man lich king, your only there for AoE and roots the phase 3. Other classes (warlocks) will do more than you in that fight, but you do more dmg in the hard times of that fight, and crap everywhere else.

< just playing devils advocate, trinkets with procs that have ICDs are generally very good. Very rarely will you waste a proc if you do it right.

Well look at it from a slightly different view then, what would you prefer? 590 SP for the last Val'kyr of the phase or 599 SP for the 2nd group of Raging Spirits?

On use effects are about control, with a class as cooldown heavy as an arcane mage they scale much better than random procs. You might not 'waste' the proc but at the same time, you'll very rarely get it at the exact moment you want it.
