Setting up Optimal 10man Raid comps

So far for our guild we're looking for dps to optimize our comp.
What we have right now is:

    Warrior Tank(me)
    Blood DK tank
    Enhance Shaman
    Resto Druid (Boomkin offspec)
    Holy Priest (Shadow Offspec)
    Holy Pally
    Unholy DK
    Fury Warrior

So it seems like the melee is taken care of, 20% totem haste, HoW, StR totem, Bshout + kings, Sunders.

And Caster DPS has the 13% magic dmg from UH dks, possibly the 5% crit from boomkin when hes not healing.

Should I consider filling the last two spots with casters? IE: Arcane Mage / Warlock?
Doing this i notice we're not having a hunter, which with ranged traps could be good on certain bosses (IE: Saurfang.)

with this setup we'd always have 3 ranged DPS, seeing as most fights only require two healers (unless we run a GC and need 3 healers on some fights.)

Any tips from some pro's out there?

Also somewhat off topic: Should we have our UH dk ever specced into Desecration for situational fights where kiting and/or slowing is beneficial on adds? (once again, IE: Saurfang)
No actual problems on saurfang btw, just an easy fight to help show mechanics on.

I suggest adding a Ret Paladin and Arcane Mage, to get this comp.
This assumes your Druid goes Balance and your Pala and Priest heal.

Thank you very much, for the opinion and to the link of a helpful site i've never actually seen before. Or tool anyways.

Actually quite the perfect setup, I like it a lot, thanks a lot =)

Get more ranged dpsers. You'll probably have trouble on Putricide, Lich King (VERY many problems with the vile spirits if you only have 1 ranged dpser), ranged has a benefit on Marrowgar as well, Gunship, Saurfang and Blood princes.

    Seriously.

Well yeah, that's why there is two raid spots open.

Of course I'm getting more ranged. The debate is on how good they are and if I'd rather roll with 3 or 4 ranged.

And have fun when Vile Spirits rape your raid.
And your DPS will suck because there is no synergy.

Re: Setting up Optimal 10man Raid comps

Yesterday we had a ICC10 hm raid with

    Prot pala
    Blood DK (tank)
    Holy priest
    Holy pala
    Resto druid
    Ret pala
    Demon lock
    Boomkin
    MMS hunter
    Shadow priest

Prety damn awesome raid even with out bl :P (killed 8 HM bosses including Professor)

Re: Setting up Optimal 10man Raid comps

with your setup, i'd rather try to do something like this:

    Warrior tank
    Blood DK tank
    En Sham
    Resto druid (boomkin offspec)
    Holy Priest
    Holy Pala
    Unholy DK
    Fury Warrior
    Ele Sham
    Arcane Mage/Lock

    SP utility compared to the boomkin one is 0, so keep the moonkin if you go with 2 healers;
a good ele shaman will boost even more the casters and for the last spot either a mage or a lock will be fine, maybe a destro lock with affli os is the best choice.

As Shadowpriest myself, i'd love to see something along those lines:

    Warrior Tank
    Pala Tank
    Holy Pala
    Resto druid (boomkin offspec)
    Resto shaman (ele offspec)
    Arcane Mage
Shadow Priest (disc offspec for hardmodes, it may be helpfull)
    Lock
    Unholy Dk
    Retri pala

Re: Setting up Optimal 10man Raid comps

On one note, are Disc priests preferred over holy with a Holy Pally / Priest set up for Norm ICC & hardmodes?

Also, on another note, are warriors out of the loop for tanking suddenly?
I've noticed a lot of people not including warrior tanks in their 10man raid slots, any specific reason or did it just happen that way?

Re: Setting up Optimal 10man Raid comps

I normally run something like this

    Paladin Tank
    Frost DK Tank
    Arms Warrior (Me)
    Unholy DK
    Enhancement Shaman
    Holy Priest
    Resto Shaman
    Resto Druid
    Mage (Forget his spec)
    Destro Lock

Re: Setting up Optimal 10man Raid comps

    We roll with:
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Protection Warrior - Tank
    Feral Druid - Tank
    Fury Warrior - Melee DPS
    Combat Rogue - Melee DPS
Demonology Warlock - Caster DPS <--- this is me
    Arcane Mage - Caster DPS
Moonkin Druid / Elemental Shaman - Caster DPS / Backup Heal (in case we have some ppl that aren't able to make it that day)
    Restoration Shaman - Heal
Holy Paladin - Heal / Extra Melee DPS (when needed or when 3 healers are just overkill)
Discipline / Holy Priest - Heal (whatever applies to the fight)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With this we clear 8/12 ICC10 in about 1hour, yesterday we got our first kill Putricide. (Panic / Grim Batol EU) We raid 2 times a week 8PM - 11PM server time so we are pretty casual although we all have "5600+ GS (who cares) / 4t10 and are exalted Ashen Verdict"

You're missing savage combat from a combat rogue, kind of a big one

Not really, that comp only has one pure physical DPS class. I think they can live without it, if thet had a Feral Cat as well, I'd be inclined to agree.

Not the most pure Phys. DPS setup, so I think I can live without. But I already have a combat rogue and muti rogue lined up for our 25mans for the buffs.

However if our raid 10man comp changes and brings in a feral or other pure phys. dps class, i'll have to bring in that combat rogue. Be ridiculous not to

Re: Setting up Optimal 10man Raid comps

If you're not bringing savage combat, the group is not optimal.
