Re: Cataclysm in PC Gamer UK, Blue posts

Woho! Undead and Blood elves will be kicked out from the Orgrimmar? How cool is that? At last horde will be Hordy!

Go Go Garrosh! Kick Blood elves out of the horde!

Maybe this game will look more like WARcraft, not CAREBEARcraft!

But tbh this is secret plan of blizz to purge Horde from BEboys, since they gave paladins to taurens, theres no reason to keep blood elves around. I wonder what was the reason to keep undead around =?

    So.. Hold on a second...

1/ A Few months back, MMO Champion posts some rumors
2/ Now, PC Gamer UK make an unofficial feature, that sums up all the rumors that have been said on Cataclysm, and MMO Champion is actually their main source
3/ MMO Champion people says this feature "is a verification of certain rumours"

Since when "listing rumours" equals verification exactly???
Bottom line: the only thing this PC Gamer feature is: a printed summary of MMO Champion rumors. Not much to say about it frankly. Nothing new to learn, nothing officially confirmed. Really: this feature is all about NOTHING.

Will wait for some real news playing SC2 Beta
Please think before posting, and should you fail that, please read before posting.

Med'an, the son of Medivh and Garona, do not think he took back the title of Guardian soon.

I'm calling bull**it on this one. If it had to guess, I'd say this is an April fools thing. If this information was in the April issue, that's what makes the most sense.

Why would blizzard disrupt the Horde faction so much and leave the Alliance faction intact? This seems like it would create an imbalance in the factions. Something like this would probably effect lots of players decisions to continue playing horde for one thing. Another is that this makes the Horde out to be the bad guys again, the Horde and Alliance are both supposed to both be seen as "good guys" or "neutral."

The only way I'll believe this is if blizzard announces it, if some more info comes out about having to do with the Alliance having similar drama inner-alliance, or if Orgrimmar is made into to a raid with Garrosh being the end encounter (or is just killed off in some way)

Not saying that this info is wrong. But is not official and just one more thing....how did someone on something awful come to this information long before anyone in the gaming community get it. It's because its probably false. Boubouille posted this on the front page i believe with no, i want to recount no credible source.

When he had credible sources...it turns out to be true. I get the feeling that most this information is false and maybe blizzard is just sitting back letting people believe this storyline, that way their true storyline isn't uncovered for a few more months.

Most the legit info gets confirmed soon after its released. Some was confirmed at blizzcon, the rest is unconfirmed and will probably stay that way....God I hope blizz makes this their april fools this year.

While some of what you say may have some merit the problem is that the "tragic Shakespearean hero" has been done to death; the world is less accepting of that type of character now and I think the majority of players will still be happy when he dies despite blizzard's best efforts to make us feel sympathy for him.

I was under the impression that Garrosh was just a great loss of quality on the Horde, someone who's main purpose on the plot is to ruin the reputation of every Horde member, but now that you posted that, I actually agree with you entirely. Your points seem very good to me. I would never have figured out such explanation by myself.

Well, no surprise there, said that before, even in this thread: Blizz obviously wants us to rant 'rabble rabble' against Garrosh, in order to work up to something.

That, I didn't see coming. I personally expect more of a Garrosh-is-gonna-get-his-ass-kicked-when-Thrall-comes-back story-line, which wouldn't surprise me. A shakespearean type of character would be quite nice and, after reading you points for this, it seems quite a valid argument.

So he's gonna turn good and sacrifice himself to save someone awesome or something? Sounds a bit like Grom to me. Must say, this does make it interesting again .

Anyway, one thing that everyone is missing. Why PC Gamer is giving info/spec that we know since August? 8 months as passed and they only manage to get this? The article is the "50 reasons why you should play Cataclysm" and honestly, it's a compilation of all the info/rumors we already know. It's like they search all sources of info/rumors to fill the 50. Including the SA "leak".

Re: Cataclysm in PC Gamer UK, Blue posts

Did anyone ever think that maybe Cairn is being labeled a traitor simply due to his "fraternization with the enemy"? Aka - He's an arch druid who consults with Night Elves(Cenarion Circle). Night elves are bad (via the eyes of the horde). Maybe he refuses to break contact with the CC on the grounds that they're "Beyond silly alliances". Anyone hear Cairn saying "Its above your head and below your knees, boy. What we druids do is greater then any silly orcish horde" and seeing Garrosh flip his lid?

Or even simpler - maybe he disagrees with the placement of Garrosh as 'that guy babysitting the horde till thrall gets back'. Maybe Thrall doesn't really have time to argue it. Maybe Cairn threatens to pull Thunderbluff's support. Maybe Magatha is like "OMG HE TALKS TO NIGHT ELVES AND THREATENS TO SEPARATE US ALL FROM THE HORDE - OUR SAVIORS FROM THE CENTAUR. HE'S TOTALLY TO OLD AND A TRAITOR!" and Garosh (being the idiot that he is) decides that she's right?

There's a half dozen reasons (though to you or I they're hardly reasonable) why it would be very, very simple to label the man (cow) a traitor. There's even enough there to do so with out pissing off the Tauren people, and even getting the man's (cow's) own son on Garrosh's side about it.

    Breath - its okay.

Re: Cataclysm in PC Gamer UK, Blue posts

I seriously doubt Blizzard would do anything this compelling, but... if I were writing this whole Horde debacle, I'd have Garrosh seize power (thanks to his backing among the orcs after successes in Northrend), depose Thrall (who is loaded onto a boat and sent off, later to be saved by Goblins), quell Cairne's uprising by killing him, ally with Magatha, and generally impose an administration stressing fearful obedience.

This explains his retooling of Orgrimmar, both in its appearance and population, and fits with his bolstering of other Horde outposts as well. He becomes a dictator we're supposed to hate but cannot rise up against (yet).

And Thrall does not attempt to retake the Horde because he has bigger fish to fry, with the Cataclysm.

Sometime during the expansion, a resistance forms. Things are kept quiet. The leader is present but not identified. In time, we discover it is none other than Saurfang, who is making good on his promise from waaay back in Warsong Hold in Borean Tundra. He is planning to unseat Garrosh and kill him for what he has done. Perhaps Thrall has been secretly aiding him.

By expansion's end, this happens. Saurfang is our new warchief, endorsed by Thrall. Garrosh's acts have done irreparable damage to the Horde/Alliance relations, which were already tenuous back in Northrend, ensuring 'war' in Warcraft for a long time to come. Saurfang is also not exactly the peace-loving type... he has an edge, but also a wisdom, and I feel he will be an excellent middle-ground between the pugnacious Saurfang and the flower-picking Thrall. (I love Thrall, but he is a bit namby-pamby).

I have the sad feeling that we will get some ham-fisted plot where Garrosh 'comes around' and that somehow makes up for the damage he does in early Cataclysm. Character growth is fine, but Garrosh's seems forced from inception... it was uncomfortable seeing him suffering from ennui back in Nagrand, and his sudden 180 and "bad assery" (read: posturing) felt unnatural. Subsequent treatment (disregard) of Thrall and Saurfang, his mentors, all made us wonder if 'Northrend General Hellscream' was really more than a whiny, rough-housing child... and now this. I'm not sure if Blizzard realizes that what they've done with Garrosh has left an indelible impression on players... we don't like him, and few of us will ever respect him, even if he singlehandedly goes up and pops Deathwing on the nose. We'd say "that was pretty cool" but I wouldn't be raising a 'GARROSH!' pennant any time soon.

Did you hate Grom? Your whole storyline of Garrosh taking Thrall out and Saurfang secretly plotting against him is worse than anything Blizzard would ever come up with. No one even knows what Garrosh is going to do and I can understand him wanting the Forsaken out of Orgrimmar. They were in leagues with a DEMON and that DEMON betrayed all of the Horde. Garrosh is harsh but isn't a moron like everyone is suggesting. Now all of this stuff posted in the magazine are just rehashed info we got from Blizzcon. Nothing new. Nothing at all. So I don't believe it yet. Until I see it in the game past the beta I can't believe ANY of it.

Plus there is nothing on the Alliance at all. Nothing happens to them? The Cata happens and they just sit there and nothing new happens? Bullshit.
